We visited this convent while in Kostroma. It was slightly passed 5 PM when we entered the beautiful buildings, and services were held. There were prayers and readings, and beautiful hymns sung by the nuns of the convent. The atmosphere was truly holy and spiritual....More

This is another typical 5-domed Russian church built in the 16th century. However the monastery dates from the 17th-18th century. It was neglected during the Soviet era and is now in the process of being restored. The gold coloured domes are very striking.
