Deeply rooted in the faith and devotion has made this place mystical and religious. The center of the catholic faith of the province with a huge festival dedicated to the infant Jesus every January. Light a candle outside for your sincerest prayers. Fall in line to get up close and personal to the infant Jesus statue and admire one of the oldest artifacts and church architecture in the country. Magellan’s cross is right outside its doorstep. Modest clothing inside.

Today (January 19, 2020), the 3rd Sunday of the New Year 2020 is the Feast of the miraculous Sr Sto Niño and we're celebrating the SINULOG FESTIVAL. According to Wikipedia: The Sinulog-Santo Niño Festival is an annual cultural and religious festival held on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City, and is the centre of the Santo Niño Catholic celebrations in the Philippines.
As a Sr Sto Niño devotee, I'm truly blessed to complete the 9 Days Novena Holy Masses (January 9th-17th, 2020) rain or shine, day and night at the Basilica Minore del Sto Niño de Cebu for 13 straight years from January, 2007 to January, 2020. That's a total of 117 Novena Holy Masses which I've attended as He continues to grant my countless prayers and petitions.
As a devotee of Our Lord Jesus Christ and of Our Lady, Blessed Virgin Mary, this is the start of my annual devotion every brand new year after we celebrate Christmas, New Year Day and my Birthday.

Masses are celebrated here, both inside and outside the Basilica. The altar has many statues of religious men surrounding the statue of Santo Nino.
Outside is a small museum showing the beautiful intricate vestments and jewelries given to Santo Nino. There are also other statues around the areas.
Note: The original statue is located at another enclosed room. Picture taking is not at this particular area.

I went here in the 3rd weekend of January where sinulog2023 coming back on street performance and street dance at the new venue of SRP cebu city. Firstly I visited this important church where Santo Nino ( baby Jesus) places in the shrine . The dat before Grand procession , it’s mass celebration to commemorate Santo nino first came to colonial city , Cebu by Magellane. The interior of the church itself is extravaganza arts of Gothic era. It’s crowded but the ambience was very tranquil.

I have been to this place many times already (being a Cebuano born), It's almost always full-packed with people - both churchgoers and devotees. One good thing in the area is the presence of convenience, it seems every time I visit there is always something new - bakery, eatery, food stall, flower stand. It is strategically located too so you can simply walk to its nearest interesting sites as well like the cathedral, cross of Magellan and carbon (market) to name some. Anyone who visits Cebu almost always never misses this site to complete their travel.

You can feel the place and atmosphere a very religious one! People are flocking to pray their intentions and light candles which is an uncommon find in our place in Germany. It was a good experience if not for the hot Friday afternoon and candle vendors which are ladies dressed in red skirts and yellow shirt to which they also dance and say a prayer if you buy from them!

This is the oldest church in the country so it has a lot of history including having the oldest religious image (image of Sto. Nino de Cebu). As a Roman Catholic, I have visited it a few times and would really recommend it to other Christians.

The Basilica Minore Del Sto. Niño de Cebu is a Pilgrimage site for many Filipino Roman Catholics. It is a historical and beautiful Roman Catholic church. I believe it was founded on April 28, 1565, and is the oldest Catholic church in the Philippines.
Everytime we visit Cebu, we attend mass here. Normally, we attend mass at the outdoor area because the church and grounds are very very crowded with people every day.
Many folks come to visit the statue of Santo Nino and pray. Always a moving and emotional experience. AMEN!!!!

Very historical and beautiful. We were here for a family get together and very systematized too. Magellan's Cross is near too and Cebu City Hall. Food stalls are everywhere as well. There are many devotees during January since the feast is every 3rd Sunday of January.

I have a special place in my heart for the Santo Nino - and the Basilica of the Santo Nino in Cebu is no exception. We happen to be there with only a few people in the church so we took our time going around the church and the shrine. It's a very peaceful place and the old church is a historical place.

If I am not wrong, jeepney from Labangon would pass in Cebu Cathedral then from their you can walk to Sto. Niño.
The code is 12D, 12G, 12I.

HI Im planing to see Basilica Del santo Nino. How to get there from cebu Peir teeminal? Please give some info?
Written 18 May 2019
Walking in Cebu City will be an unpleasant experience, especially in that area. Taxi or Grab.

SM city cebuからバスで行くことはできますか?mybusで行けるのでしょうか?それともタクシーが無難ですか?
Written 13 February 2019
Use only grab or micab. Because taxi is not 100% safe. A lot drivers is scam. So best option is grab, you can pay card in app or cash.

Hi,
i'm due to visit Basilica del Santo Nino on a Friday evening when Novena masses occur just about every hour. Are non worshippers allowed into the church for a visit during the mass?
thanks.

As most people have said on here. Respect goes along way. Wearing the proper clothes as well. There is some beautiful places to photograph in and around the Church. Knowing what the church has went through in the recent years. Enjoy your time there.

Yes there’s ample parking spaces nearby but you have to walk about 100 meters more or less.

Is location marked on TripAdvisor correct? Google maps give me very different destination. Thank you
Written 13 February 2018
I think the location pinned here at TripAdvisor isn’t correct. The Basilica is very near the Magellan’s Cross. I remember being dropped at Magellan’s Cross then just walking towards the Basilica.
I think Google map is more accurate. Hope this helps.
