Magellan's Cross in Cebu, Philippines is a historic and symbolic landmark that holds great significance. Standing in front of the cross, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and reverence. It's a powerful reminder of the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines and the beginnings of a rich cultural heritage.

A must visit place in Cebu. This is an iconic tourist spot in Cebu.
Don’t forget to offer a candle and pray if you visit this place.
You can take pictures on your own or accept the offer of the vendors around the area to take a photo of you. At first, I was hesitant but later on I gave in. According to the vendor, he’s also the one who took the photos of the famous celebrities who dropped by to visit Magellan’s cross. And he did not disappoint me, he got the best angle! He refused to get paid for taking photos but I insisted to give him some money as a gratitude.

This is overhyped and over commercialised. Sitting just outside the basilica, its an interesting historical note especially as Magellan landed (and died) in Cebu but little more.
Watch out for the many attempts to separate you from your money.

Cool to see for the importance of this sight but can see everything in a few minutes. I don’t think it’s original cross but good wooden replica. It’s free so have a look and the go to Basilica next door.

This site was a nice stop on our tour. I was expecting a little more pizazz however, when we walked under the covering, the huge Cross was there all by itself...and that was enough for me!

A historical site where the final outcome had a major impact on the Philippine life. We hit it during “rush hour”, super busy, couldn’t really take it in.

The bus to the city centre costs 50 pesos and terminates at the bus centre. An average jeeoney cost 8 pesos but you have to check where they going as they are always on the move and each one goes to different places. The letters at the end correspond for example if the jeeoneybhas a c at the end it means it will go to colon Street. My best advise if there is a restriction, is to hrie a taxi for a day. I walked in the street a taxi driver negotiated with me 1500 for the day, so for two or more people it might be worth it to just be stress free jumping into various jeppneys hoping it's going the right way. My hostel told me which jeepneys to get, so you can always ask at reception. 12L goes to the ayala mall, 4c goes down jarkouslem Street.
