Perhaps if we had taken the tour at a different time I would have enjoyed it more. But it was mid-afternoon and we had already been to another city sightseeing and the day was very hot and there was no air conditioning or fans to cool us off while in the house. Therefore my physical discomfort leads me to just... More

Thank you so much for your visit and for providing us with this feedback. The home does not have AC and yes, it certainly can get quite warm during the summer months. We typically winterize the home in late September or early October as in Central New York, snow can and does happen with the arrival of fall. We would... More

Going through Auburn 2 years ago we didn't have time to visit the Seward House so it was on our must do list if we ever returned. It was well worth the visit and we had one of the best tour guides Joanne Mitchell we're ever had on a historic site. Her knowledge of the home and Mr. Seward turned... More

I was lucky enough to have a solo tour of the Seward House Museum! The tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions! The home was filled with original art, furniture and books which made it even more exciting to tour. I enjoyed the gallery upstairs of all the important players of that time!

My wife and I have toured a lot of homes. This one is by far one of the most intact and pristine examples we have ever visited. Due primarily to the respect the generations of Seward's showed the property and took care of the priceless artifacts. Jeff, our tour guide did a fantastic job and was very knowledgable. Great home... More

I was in town with my hubby and while he was attending to work, I did some sight seeing. I had heard from another about the Seward House and had reviewed the brochure information so made it on my second day and so glad that I did. The tour of the home/museum was very informative and introduced things that did... More

You get a very informative tour of the home of William Henry Seward, our Secretary of State who pushed for the purchase of Alaska from Russia - and haven't we been glad he did many times over! The home is lovely and the staff is great.

A visit to the home of Lincoln's Secretary of State, William H. Seward, was the key driver for our visit to Auburn and it was worth it. It's a fascinating home, filled with amazing relics of the time, including the "usual suspects" involved in Lincoln's kidnapping plot and the somewhat bloodied sheet from the attempt on Seward's life. It was... More

OK -- I'm a historic house groupie. And the Seward House Museum is right at the top of the list of great places I've visited. Usually a historic home has gone through many owners between the time that the famous person lived there. The furniture is "of the period" and "similar to" what might have originally been there. But the... More

Seward was an amazing statesman who, when he couldn't get the presidential election, threw all of his support behind Lincoln. He was the man was behind the purchase of Alaska from Russia and was very well-traveled. The upstairs hallway of his home is literally covered with pictures of the various heads of state he met all over the world!
