Very nice demonstration of horsemanship by women and men. Dance was an extra that added a lot. Need to make sure of arrangement for transportation to and from the show at a reasonable rate.

We live in Trujillo & this is a much better show with more information & history than our previous Caballos de Paso show in another location. We will definitely bring all our visitors to this show/lunch.

I had an awesome time! The performers and horses were enjoyable to watch. The food was superb! Enjoyed the folkloric dances and got to interact with the horses and go for a horse ride after the show. Horses are well trained and very gentle. The service and attention received was amazing. I highly recommend this tour. Good for family, couples and children.

Ridden horses all my life English style. The horses here are looked after very well. It was very interesting to see how the Peruviano de paso horses work, move and perform! I really enjoyed the show and afterwards I went horse riding for an hour. Which was a great experience, the most comfortable saddle I’ve sat on in South America and these horses trot in the most unusual way. No bouncing, it’s like you’re sat on a chair that’s moving fast! Thank you very much for your great service 😊

This was a part of a private tour we took (we’re on a cruise) to primarily see archeological sites. None of us knew what to expect but we all had a great time. The horses are beautiful and well trained; it’s clear they have good relationships with their riders. We also got to see a new colt that was about 3 months old - what an energetic cutie!

The dance performances were fun to watch and who knew a dancer on the ground could dance with a horse and rider?!

They take good care of the guests - shaded comfortable seating, opportunity to purchase soft drinks, bottled water, and local beer at reasonable prices. Also you can pet the horses and take pictures with the horses and dancers - tips appreciated but not required.

It s a 45 min show, it shows traditional dancing and the peruvian gaited horse, and the 2 combined. Don t expect any circusact, but just the chalans showing their horsemanship and showing the horses. I thought it was a nice cultural thing to see. The peruvian horse is a beautifull horse. They also give you the option to ride it. I went riding it for an hour after the show on their terrain because i like horses and wanted to try a gaited horse. It cost 80 soles for an hour and the gave me instructions on how to ride it. It was a nice and fun experience, the horse had a smooth gait, for me it was worth it and could recomend to horse lovers

Trujillo is the capital of Marinera dancing and I struggled to find any other way to see this in other cities. Therefore, I recommend making this a priority if you want to see something a bit different. I’ve seen a lot of ruins, which have been amazing, but it was great to get a more rounded and lively version of the culture.

It cost me 10 sols each way by taxi from Trujillo old town. If you message Arturo on WhatsApp (or call) on +51 948 315 055, he’ll send you all the details including the address to show the taxi driver. Make sure you show this because they moved their grounds a couple of years ago. Arturo speaks great English.

The 40 min shows are 30sols for adults and at 1.30 or 2.45pm. They are in both English and Spanish. They took photos and videos (of me dancing with the dancers) for me and it was no trouble and they didn’t demand extra money for it. Everyone is friendly and happy. I got a Trujullo beer for 10 sols and have a tip at the end.

As I am quite familiar with caballos de paso (called 'paso fino' in the US and other countries) and marinera norteña (one of the most famous and beautiful dances from Peru), I was 'desperately' looking for a show of this type. In Trujillo, I had figured it would be very difficult to chose form 'many' such shows...surprise...there are only two offers.
Alcor was recommended by some locals I had met and thus we went.
The show itself was well narrated in both Spanish and English, and while it targets tourists, it is actually a place where they do prepare horses for competition in the national contests. The chalanes (that is how the people riding the horses are called) were actual working people (not quite 'professionals for show, but that is what they do in real life) and quite good. They did show quite well the strong relation between the chalan and the horse and demo some of the common traits of the horse. Remember, these are normally working horses in a coastal farm (though the one in the show were more for contests they still have their share of real work). Mixed in the show was also marinera dancing. The performers were not top of the line but good enough to present a really nice show, all up close and personal. For the uninitiated: there is a national marinera norteña contest every year (with categories per age) and the winners are just out of this world in how they dance and what they can do -but that is another report-.
All in all, a really good show with authenticity and not just a tourist show. The performers were really passionate about their art (though as I noted, this is real life for them) and showing it to the public.
As the show went on and different aspects of the paso fin horse and its work and training were shown, the narrator would explain what those meant as well as pointing out specific details that otherwise would be missed. For example, one number was to show how smooth these horses ride: called the 'pisco test', an aid pours pisco (national spirit) into a glass and pass it on to the chalan (rider) who then proceeds to gallop around on the horse without dropping a single drop while he has the arm extended with the glass at end. And you could see that is not that he is doing a great effort, the horse ride is really that smooth (as compared to a standard horse of course in which you are basically jumping up and down).
Highly recommend if you happen to be in Trujillo.

This was a lovely performance by the horses and the dancers. The owners are very kind and do a good job both narrating the performance and taking about the horses. Definitely worth the time to see while you're in Trujillo!
