We went to this Island via Edgar Adventure Tours. Had a homestay experience and since there were only 2 of us had a private guide to ourselves. The Island itself is as if time has stood still. You can go for several walks in and around the different neighbourhoods. The food we were served during our stay was also amazing:... More

We had no clue what this island is liked before we set foot on it. It was a steep walk soon after getting out from the boat. Our guide gave us good advice and encouraged us to do it at our own pace. It was a tough but well worth it walk (maybe climb is more appropriate). The lunch at... More

We had lunch on Taquile after visiting the floating islands. This looks rather like a small, Mediterranean island with beautiful landscapes, plunging into the sea well below. We first did a lovely hike across the island before enjoying a simple but delicious lunch. After some traditional dancing (that left the younger ones unconvinced) the boat came round the island to... The first 1km walk from the island dock to the square is hars but worth it. Great views and friendly people. Fun fact the men knit here not the women.

Warned that the walk up to the main square was very hard, but not really that bad, even for someone with bad joints. Interesting square at the top with a few places to buy local crafts. Has a very "Greek" feel to it.

The island on lake Titicaca is not easy to get to, but offers some nice views and an introduction to the local culture and people, who still live quite traditional lifestyles and dress in the old fashioned colored clothes, except the beautiful place itself, there are also some galleries and nice family restaurants.

You can access to Taquile island by boat. Be carefull that if you take the tour eşth slow boat takes 3 our one way this means you will not have ample time to visit the island. Please ask your travel agency for speed boat. In the islands there are no much more to do. After disembark the island you will... More

I really enjoyed our visit to Taquile Island. After docking we ascended a cobbled uneven path up to the top of the island. At an altitude of 4107m the air was pretty thin but so long as you stopped for a regular breather it was okay and well worth the effort. The locals dress very specific. They do not have... More

We visited this beautiful island by ferry. After walking uphill we came to learn about the culture by visiting a family. Our Spanish - English speaking guide related information about typical family life. We were shown how the crafts were made and then had a typical Peruvian lunch before walking back down to the beach where our ferry was waiting.
