The museum is a fantastic history lesson about the creation of the moving image. Amazing artifacts, informative and easy to read signage, great back ground on the history of movie and TV making in NY. Currently a great exhibit about Jim Henson - from the...More

I enjoyed my visit to the Museum of the Moving Image and saw all the old cameras and sets that were used to make movies back in the day. I also saw the screening of "Am I Black Enough" which was very interesting. I would...More

Tucked away in a nondescript street (though near Kaufman Astoria Studios). In a sea of white there is the glass front of the Museum of the Moving Image. They hold your large items so you do not have to lug them around. The exhibits are...More

It was great to spend a day here with our daughter. And learned a lot about film. Towards the end it was heavy on Sesame Street which in turn brought back a lot of memories. My daughter is now 28 years old.

....beware before you arrive: rudest staff imaginable. Really takes away from what should be a lighthearted, fun experience. If not for the staff, this would be a 5-Star experience.

As named, they got a lot of exhibits about filming during the times. You could synchronize a short clip and learn how important music is in the movies. When I've been there: they got a special exhibit on Jim Henson and his puppets. I have...More

We took the subway out to Astoria, and I’m glad we did. My teenagers loved it, and there was plenty of nostalgia for a middle aged person like myself!

The Jim Henson exhibit at the Museum of Moving Image was what dreams are made of. We got to see creatures from movies like the Dark Crystal, shows like Fraggle Rock, and all of our favorite muppets-- plus many we'd never seen before. There are...More

Another gem of Astoria/Long Island City. Though technically in Long Island City, it is one of the great museums in Western Queens. As an amateur filmmaker, I have been here many times to purchase books about the movies, have some shorts exhibited. In November I...More

The museum is spread out over three levels and each is absolutely a delight. The fact that this is a museum dedicated to 'Moving Images' is absolutely outstanding...it has it everything and not just cinema, but, graphics, video games, television, cartoons and everything in between....More

There is a coat check room, that, from what I remember, was pretty roomy. Perhaps if you tip them generously they would hold the bags there!
