Only came here as it's the starting point for the catamaran cruise around the bay. It does have some good bird sightings with pelicans and flamingos flying right over you, and it does have a good few souvenir type shops and restaurants. Not really worth a special visit though only come if here anyway for the cruises.

The Walvis Bay Waterfront is a nice place to spend an afternoon at. There are various things to do ranging from restaurants and curio shops to catamaran tours and a range of other water activities. As it is one of the main attractions in the area, it can get very busy and with limited parking available I recommend you arrive just before the lunch time rush, if you are planning on having lunch at one of the restaurants. The Waterfront is more on the rustic side than being a modern Waterfront, but it's still worth a visit if you're in Walvis Bay.

Walvis Bay is a busy commercial shipping port with thousands of trucks and containers. If that is what interests you, then fine, but really don't stay here.

So this isn't your usual waterfront; there is a curio shop or two, a few restaurants, and the main reason for going there - it is the starting point for the catamaran trips. Great place to have lunch after your relaxing catamaran outing.

Walvis Bay Waterfront shows you the different part of Namibia. This more of high end touristy way of living. As far as waterfront goes, it's nothing special. It's much better toward the pink lake or up to the Langstrand.

We left our cruise ship and took a very long walk along the waterfront before we boarded our tour bus. The views of the sea and the pleasant seafront neighborhood were splendid.

Walvis Bay is the 'Bay of Whales'. The best way to see the wildlife is to take a boat trip out into the bay. We saw whales, Cape Fur Seals and plenty of birds. Both a seal and pelicans landed on our boat so we could see them close up - a real treat.
There are some good, reasonably priced and well stocked souvenir shops when you get off the boats as well as bars and cafes.

Okay, I apologize to the flamingos, gulls and pelicans whom I just called "birdies", but it was all I could think of to fit what I was going for.

Anyway, great place to watch the wildlife, including seals, jellyfish, and various birds, including flamingoes depending on what time of year you're there (rainy season, basically).

On the waterfront you can also have tasty seafood, buy some souvenirs, and just relax while smelling the salty air.
