Quite interesting to walk on the old ramparts. Beautiful views onto the ocean and the city. Very interesting with all the old canons.

You can pay a small fee (10 Dh) to climb the ramparts and tower. We got some great pictures up there and it's a good spot for watching people at the fish market. Definitely worth doing.

The Essaouira Ramparts are a beautiful example of late 18th century fortified town. It was called "Skala de la Kasbah" and was built according to the principles of contemporary European military fortress. Since its fondation it was meant to protect this major international trading seaport that was linking Morocco with Europe and the rest of the world. Old brass cannons... More

One cannot visit Essaouira without experiencing the visit of the Remparts with its blue fishermen's boats and birds fighting around their catch. Don't miss eating right there the fresh fish from the day's catch. But don't forget to ask the Maroccans for not overcooking it which is their usual habit.

The ramparts are part of the port area and easy to find from any hotel/riad your at. Great place to take photographs. There were a couple of folks setting up to paint the scape too. Trying and plan your visits when the boats are at dick because that blue makes for a pretty background.

Worth visiting for the panoramic view for a small fee .Not a lot of area to walk around .Unfortunately nowhere comfortable to sit and enjoy the view.

After your first dozen steps of walking these ramparts you will begin to feel you are drifting back into the past. It is a walk to remember. Do not forget your camera.

It costs a few pence to go up onto the ramparts but it's worth the "expense". Lovely views and lots of photo opportunities. It makes for a very pleasant stroll, would be romantic to do with a loved one ...

There are extensive renovations going on at the ramparts and we've not been able to visit on our last two trips to Essaouira - in March 2016 and two days ago in December 2016. This is a great shame as the city walls, canons and fantastic views make this a lovely place to sit and watch the sun go down.
