Its a cemetry that is neglected and overgrown, yet it did not feel out of place. Jewish and christian cemetry in a muslin country show how varied in history Morocca has been exposed to. It would be good if it was promoted more and tidied...More

We stumbled into the cemetery which is neglected and overgrown. Situated next to the sea but hidden by high walls it's still seemingly used ...recently by French. We came across one English grave explaining the death of 2 young children in late 1800s. We were...More

On entering you are struck by the dereliction, although some graves are recent (October 2015) and one has cats! Interns are from France mainly although some Brits and Italians spotted. Interesting architecture too. Abandoned tombs too. One or two photos of Italians also. See images....More

If you are bit odd like me and enjoy nothing more than a wander round a cemetery this is a really fascinating and evidence of the diverse range of people who have colonised Essaouira in the past. Very run down, but nevertheless worth a visit.

We where walking around Essaouria and came upon this cemetery by chance. It was interesting to walk around but sad to see the graves untouched and in a very poor state of repair.

Most interesting to see the names and learn about the Christian influence here. Interestingly enough there is a book called White Gold it describes Ishmael's slave trade of white folk from Europe ..most interesting.
