Lovely Medina - not as crowded as other cities. I felt very safe and was amazed to the better prices

Took a guided tour round the Medina which was good because the guide was informative and knowledgeable and we probably would have missed some areas without, though one can perfectly well wander round alone. The Sqala is a lovely little street, but there are streets...More

Essaourira is very different than Merrakesh. The median here is much more low key and so are the shop keepers. Pleasant to walk around and shop.

Life goes by slowly at this place (great way to escape the Marrakech madness). I stayed here two nights. The place was built in the 18th century. Lots of art, sea breeze, fishermen and well fed cats. The Portuguese influence cannot be denied.

The medina in Essaouria is much more relaxing than in Marrakech. It also has lots of interesting products from artists and such like. Stunning colours, locals seem friendly not as pushy as other medina stall holders. I would recommend this place for a break from...More

This area has historical sites and is also a port. Loads of blue fishing boats are significant to identify that they re Moroccan. You can walk though the area, not be hassled and enjoy the sites.

It's about 2 hours from Marrakesh, costs about 1000 Dhs for private car. Ours was easily arranged by our Dar (small hotel).
