After a windy 2hr drive north up the coast from Agadir, passing the awesome goats-in-trees (goats literally climb the argan trees to get the nuts!) we arrived in the seaside city of Essaouira. Being January low season, it was fairly quiet and we were happy...More

The medina of Essaouira is a small, charming, blue-white oldtown full of small shops, cafés and ateliers. It's really nice to stroll around and to look for beautiful souvenirs. The quality of the crafts seems higher and better selected than in Marrakech (even if the...More

Really loved getting lost in this Medina as you couldn't really get too lost as it isn't really that big. It was great wandering around the laneways, seeing beautiful doors and wondering what was behind them. Lots of shops, Amazing Ramparts to wander on and...More

Unless you want to make some surf one full day is enough to visit the city. Inside ancient walls there's a beautiful Medina, absolutly more quiet that the Marrakech one. Then, you can go over the blockhouse and have a look at the Ocean.

Dont go if you dont like fish! This is a beautiful old market in the shadows of the boats. It is highly photogenic but a bit windy in the winter months so dress warm and bring your sunnies! Wonderful.

A bit more “modern” Médina in a beautiful setting overlooking the ocean. A timid person wouldn’t feel threatened here.
