At the entrance of the old medina, in a former almond warehouse, l'Atelier Madada welcomes you under its stone arches. By small groups (8 persons maximum) and supervised by a professional team (a cook and a trilingual presenter) our hosts discover the secrets of Moroccan gastronomy and are initiated into the delights of one of the best cuisine in the world. In a friendly and casual atmosphere, those half-day workshops teach each participant how to prepare a full traditional meal that one can then easily reproduce at home.

This was so much fun. Mouna (chef) and Alison (English translator) have a great working dynamic and keep the class light-hearted whilst still teaching you so much about the food and culture in general. I am a complete novice when it comes to cooking but it didn't matter at all so don't let that put you off. Alison also took... More

I truly enjoyed the hands on cooking workshop at l'Atelier Madada. The location is beautiful, clean and very easy to locate in the Medina. The experience was an authentic cultural experience using local spices and ingredients. A bonus was our visit to a spice souk (shop) in the cool maze at the Medina. It was fun sitting down to eat... Each one makes its own dish, on its own cooker, in a beautiful kitchen. Mounia (ther cheff) and Alison (ther English translator and helper) were very nice and gave a lot of information. The tour to the spice market was helpful to know where and what to buy in order to repeat the dishes at home.

An excellent cooking experience where you prepare and cook all your own food and then sit in their excellent restaurant to feast on it after a trip to the spice market. Alison and Mona were great fun, knowledgeable and made the day really fun. I cannot recommend this highly enough and will be back on my next trip to essaouira!

Walking into the restaurant, you can see and feel it has style, and the food and service to match it! The tuna carpaccio was amazing, as was the spider crab gratin. Good selection of Moroccan wines. They also have cooking classes, unfortunately we didn't have enough time! highly recommend

This will be one of the highlights of our trip - Allison and Mona were so wonderful, Allison is full of history lessons and cooking expertise. It was an absolute joy spending our afternoon learning to cook these traditional Moroccan meals and learning so much about the culture and history of the area. We were a bit nervous at first... We had a great time cooking our own Moroccan lunch & visiting the spice market. Recommend, especially for the insider information on food, spices & other items you might want to bring home from Morocco. Our 18 months old daughter was with us and very welcome

We had a superb day with Mona and Alison preparing and cooking our lunch, visiting Mohammed at his spice shop and consuming it all 😀👍🏻. The cooking was brilliant, but Alison opened up Essaouira for us with her local knowledge. Our visit to the town was better for it. Cannot recommended this experience highly enough. Thank you Mona, Alison and... More
