Tengku Tengah Zaharah Mosque is known as the 1st floating mosque in Malaysia. Construction of this beautiful white mosque on a concrete platform took 3 years. It was built in the lagoon of the Ibai River & became part of the Kuala Ibai Lagoon Public Park, bordering an equestrian resort & the white sandy beach facing the South China Sea. There are 2 bridges that link to the northern & southern public carparks which can accommodate more than 400 cars.

The floating mosque, depicting a combination of modern & Moorish design was officially opened by the previous Sultan of Terengganu in July 1995 who named it after his mother, Tengku Intan Zaharah.

We did not enter the mosque but took photos of it from the carpark area. There was a large dome flanked by smaller ones & a 30-metre minaret standing closely beside it. We had read that marble, ceramics & bomanite were cleverly used to give its interior a cooling surface. Surrounding the floating mosque would be the lagoon water raising to the depths of 1.5 metres. The outside area was quite windy & onlookers will definitely agree that it was a peaceful sight.

The main prayer hall is on the ground level while the women’s prayer hall is on the floor above. It can accommodate 1,000 worshippers at any 1 time. Other facilities in the mosque include royal rooms, a small library, an imam’s room, office, store & ablution area.

We will visit the mosque again when time permits & offer prayers inside.

Lovely view of the mosque, pretty grounds with walking trails (which are in various states of disrepair), nice views of the ocean, picnic areas.

Just looking at the photos online we had to make a quick stop and boy were we in for a treat!

The building itself is already quite a sight with its fresh coat of paint against the blue sky. However, if you walk about 5 mins across the pond you will be rewarded with its beautiful jaw dropping reflection! Absolutely instagrammable!

We pass by in the car and was mesmerised to the beauty of this mosque. Noticed many family made a picnic spot by the side of the lake under a tree to enjoy a breezy afternoon.

It is a must to come by this area.

A nice building over a lake making with a mirror image of itself. I just love watching the reflection of it's building over the water. Very close by to the beach and easily accessible by car. Which in turn not short for some photos taking. Lots of free carparks. Also, another great place for those who love to get some daily walks as available parks with walkway.

This mosque seems to go by various names and is quite new and replaced one called Masjid india nearby as best I xan tell. The white building right on the river with the blue dome is best viewed from the nearby Danul Hana Bridge. Interesting building and location which at night is lit by colorful LED lighting.

Beside a place for Muslim to pray, this 'floating Masjid' have a great view too. For photographer that look for a place to shoot, i suggest come here. Not only you may get the Masjid reflection in the lake, the nearby river also give you beautiful scenery to shoot either during sunrise or sunset.
