Terengganu’s state icon, the Crystal Mosque is located in the popular Islamic Heritage Park. It was built in 2006 & was inaugurated by the 13th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, Terengganu’s Sultan in 2008.
The mosque, which is by the Terengganu river was built using smoke-coloured glass & steel. It is popular due to its exterior architecture which is heavily made of glass, giving it a crystal look whenever it is under the bright sun. Hence, it was named Crystal Mosque or “Masjid Kristal,” the direct translation in Bahasa Malaysia. During the day, some may even be fooled into thinking the glass exterior is coated in gold or bronze. Fully air-conditioned & equipped with modern amenities such as high-speed WiFi, the Crystal Mosque can accommodate 1,500 worshippers at any 1 time.
Surrounded by 8 smaller domes, the main dome is also bounded by 4 Ottoman-styled glass minarets at each corner. Accordingly, spiral staircases were built inside each minaret.
Some parts of the mosque appeared to be under renovation. Hence, my partner & I decided not to enter the mosque. Instead, I made a small contribution into the donation box in front of the mosque’s entrance for its upkeep & maintenance.
Will definitely visit again to see the interior’s grandeur which I believe is as beautiful if not better than its exterior.

It's a beauty, and well worth making the time and effort to come see - relatively speaking of course, in line with the rest of your trip. Between the Crystal Mosque and the bridge, Terengganu was good to visit. The mosque is lovely, set in peaceful grounds, on the river, and very beautiful at sunset. Lovely friendly and welcoming people.

Currently under construction and no information about construction was on the website. Disappointing to travel 9 hrs to see the mosque and have it covered in construction scaffolding and not lit up at night. Many visitors and no one seemed to know about the construction.

It is a mosque constructed between 2006 - 2008 from steel, glass and crystal located at the Islamic Heritage Park on the island of Wan Man. Be advised, due to the MCO visitors are not allowed inside and the lights are off at night.
However. It was still quite a sight! Do take a stroll around the vicinity as there are spots where you can grab instagrammable photos!

Closed during RMCO and no lights at night so disappointed by this city highlight. They could make some effort to attract tourists in a city where there is mot much to do

Go on a day when you can appreciate the reflections on the panels of the Mosque. Quite stunning. It's only a short walk round the outside of the Mosque but you can get some good shots of the building with the river running past

The uniqueness of this mosque comes from its interesting exterior design and it is coated with steel, glass and crystal. Also have souvenir and food stall at the mosque area. We can enjoy food and at the same time enjoyed the view of beautiful mosque. Good place to visit with family.

This is the place if you are looking for Islamic Heritage around the world. You can find lots of mosques with different design which might pique your interest in the engineering of the mosque. Of course the main masque here is the Crystal Mosque which will be lighted up at night. They also offer the rental of Surrey Bike where you can bike around in a 4 seats bicycle. A great place to visit with friends and family indeed.
