I wasn't initially keen on going to Anna Rais for the longhouse experience, having heard that it is somewhat touristy and not very authentic. I originally aimed to go to Batting Ai area for the 'authentic longhouse experience' but because of a recent ankle operation, I settled for a day trip in Anna Rais instead. I wasn't disappointed. For the... More

I wouldn't recommend staying over the LongHouse for the night as it does not appear to be very comfortable, but a quick visit is quite worthwhile. Sometimes it's difficult to spot Orangs in the morning, so it would be a good idea to pop over at the LongHouse for a visit and then get back for the evening feed so... More

We had a visit to the Annah Rais long house through Journey Malaysia as part of our full day trip (orang-utans and fairy caves as well) and perhaps it was a reflection of our guide, but apart from the highlight of the orang-utans the rest of the day seemed like a waste of time. When we arrived at the Long... More

We visited at the end of a long day. We had missed seeing the orangutans and had just completed an 11km kayak trip. We rushed to get there before closing. We were greeted by a woman in traditional dress offering rice wine...which we accepted and enjoyed. We were taken on a tour of the building and different features explained. We... More

The one and a half hours drive from kuching city was not worth it as the host we not only only not friendly they completely ignored our existence there.. The place were not at all interesting as there's nothing much to see or do there.. On the plus side the scenery on the way there and back were amazing..

Greeted by two friendly ladies offering Rice Wine , our driver showed us round the long house we got to chat to the residence and see them going about their day drying peppercorn and rice to sell. It's incredible how many people live there and how many family members live in each house. They have home stays there, we would... More

We weren't planning to go to the Longhouse as all the tours were expensive, however when we were at Semenggoh Nature Reserve we had time to kill between the morning and afternoon feeding, therefore we shared a taxi with some other tourists for 30 ringgit each return trip and we weren't disappointed! There weren't many tourists at all and it... More

Historically this is a very good place to see but for everything else it is a little disappointing. The place is very touristic with not many things to offer. No food stall whatsoever for us to find food. We don't feel welcome as the local always refuse to talk to us even we spoke with them in Malay.

It's ok for a brief visit. We walked through the longhouse, saw the skulls in the "Heads' House". The longhouse had been well visited by tourists, and looked quite "touristy". We ate the lunch prepared by a Bidayu couple. It was interesting - the chicken meat was good: it was a free range chicken and the meat had much better... More
