Build in 1879, firstly served as City Jail, later converted into defensive fortress, then a dance hall. Before it being closed down recently, it had being used as information center for tourists. It is located at the end of Waterfront, oppositing the new State Legislative Assembly Building. The tower is not big, nor magnificient. However, it form a great contrast between new and old town when we backgrounded it with the new assembly building.
You can visit the old Town Court, Charles Brooke Monument, India Street, and Main Bazaar together. For more information about our experience in Kuching, pls visit our blog at:

This white tower is historical building in the area of waterfront. It's not allowed to enter inside, just walking around and take pictures. Crossing the street, there is courthouse complex which is group of buildings in colonial style , now serve as restaurant, tourist visitors center, souvenir shop. It's nice to visit too.

This square tower is right at the end of the Kuching Waterfront. There are construction work around it and the place is closed. Basically just view it from the outside.

An interesting building at the end of the Esplanade. The building is a historical remnant from the Brooks period of Kuching's history. The two serpent figures guarding the stairs from the river add a nice touch to any photos.

This white old building is a distincitve landmark of the Kuching waterfront. Everybody stops here to catch a photo of the tower with the Sarawak parliament in the background. Nice view and nothing else.

This place is a photogenic building by the Waterfront. It has been turned into a restaurant so unless you are eating there, you won't be able to go in.

Was looking forward to checking this place out but unfortunately it has been turned into a restaurant! And it was never open when we went by so didn't get the chance to check it out!

Looks like a small fort but it was build for the Brooks wife and much later converted to a prison. There is a restaurant at the ground floor now. Worth a visit as it is located at the river bank.
