Everything you need to know about Sarawak and the longhouses is here. The longhouse replica upstairs is wonderful, complete with some sound effects and skulls hanging above. The mining history of Sarawak is downstairs with nice collection of mineral rocks and mining equipment. The aquarium at the back however, for me, needs improvement in terms of display.

I'd heard so many great things about this Museum and was really looking forward to attending. Only one of the museum building was open when I visited. That being the Zoology and Ethnology. The former consisting mainly of displays and a label and the latter more informative with more descriptions and videos. Note that the museum is currently undergoing renovation,... More

Really worthwhile museum for all age groups. Easily spent 2 hours there. The longhouse upstairs is fantastic.

I was really looking forward to going to the Sarawak museum, but it wasn't really what I expected. Each exhibit was made of the most bedraggled, misshapen, deformed and balding taxidermy I have ever seen. After a while, it kind of gets to the point of so bad it's good. It certainly gave us a laugh or two, but it... More

I liked this museum. It is small but it was packed with some good displays and one gets a sense of the nature of the place such as the variety of birds, butterflies, fish and insects, as well as how the indigenous lived, such as in long houses. It will only take about one hour and should be visited.

I got a high expectation when I visited as it’s a state museum but it really turned me down from the very beginning to the end. It’s within walking distance from the South City centre not far away from the Independence Square. The colonial buildings are very beautiful, but that’s all. The Natural History Museum is on the left when... More

Dislike the under maintenance building and atmosphere that makes it looks haunted. Like the Longhouse that actually gives us an experience on what is it really like to live in one.

Interesting and varied museum, and free. We were able to tour in less than an hour. Most recommended.
