There was a lot of renovation around main hall and toilets which is much needed. Did not see many orangutans only Peter and three outside. A bit disappointing as it supposed to be a refuge centre. and the animal enclosures were run down. A nice...More

This place calls itself and wildlife centre and suggests that the animals it cares for are being rehabilitated but in truth this is no more than a zoo. The enclosure/cages are far too small for these animals. There was no information to suggest what they...More

We arrived early in the morning to Matang, just at the opening around 9 AM. We were alone, which made a great impression because you can actually observe the animals uninterrupted. I have mixed feeling because on one hand the centre is doing a great...More

Our group went for a morning tour & no orangutans appeared due to their being plenty of food for them to forage in the jungle so were disappointed. We could have gone back in the afternoon but had other plans. Some of our group stayed...More

We came here to see orang utans and we're pleasantly surprised to see a few other animals too. It's a place where orang utans are rehabilitated before being set back into the wild. Located at the fringe of Kubah National Park in Matang, it's a...More

If you are going to Matang, the key is to keep in mind that this is an animal rescue and rehab center, not a zoo. We went with our kids during our recent trip to Kuching. For us, the visit was both educational and enjoyable....More

I was really looking forwards to visiting this centre from reading reviews and the work the centre does. I also thought it would be a full day excursion. How wrong was I - 1 hour. The place is looking very tired and the animals enclosures...More

I do not want to deter people from going because I think there could be a lot to learn from this wildlife centre and it massively needs help via donations and community input. However, our visit was completely overwhelming and heart breaking. I understand that...More

Matang is a small wildlife centre. Certainly not a destination to spend more than a few hours at. There is no restaurant or cafetaria. We went as a day trip and spent about 3 hours there.
