We came across this beautiful Mosque when we were out for an evening stroll. We did not go inside as they were turning up for prayers when we walked past so we walked around the perimeter of the building and admired it from the pavement. We also admired it from the river when we did a boat trip. It is quite a distinctive building.

The mosque with its glided cupolas and magnificent architectural layout is a striking landmark visibly shimmering under the scorching hot sun. I was walking to the bus station near the Electra House building when I saw this unique structure from a distance. The original form of the mosque was a wooden one constructed in 1852. This current shape and structure was built in 1968 to replace the wooden one. I am attracted by the fascinating color of the dome that blended well with the pinkish color of the columns and walls.

I have visited the Omar Ali Sahifuddin Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan, the Straits Mosque in Melaka, the Kapitan Mosque in Georgetown, the Abu Bakar Mosque in Johor Bahru and I found that each of these mosques boasts of its unique architectural design ranging from moghul architectural style to sarcenic style to the colonial minarets and Malay style.

But I always like a mosque that is constructed along a harmony lane that share her dominant prominence with the other cultural heritage buildings of other minorities group.

Here in Kuching, as you walk along the waterfront to the Electra House, it is just like a harmony lane in Georgetown with colonial old Courthouse, Textile Museum, Chinese museum and Tua Pek Kong temple, Hindu temple, Sikh temple and also this great Mosque situated in close proximity with one another harmoniously.

This common cultural and religious heritage site is a testimony to the peace and prosperity that Kuching enjoys over the years. In fact, it is another Georgetown `Streets of Harmony' and should be awarded as one of the UNESCO heritage sites in the world.

Sunlight is the essence that all plants and animals on this Earth survive. Without sunlight, the whole Earth will perish. Yet, this same sunlight diffused into 7 beautiful rainbow colors that could be easily discern through a prism but each individual bold color though distinct on its own combine and integrate into one strong homogenous white sunlight. If you say sunlight is indigo color, it is not. If you say sunlight is violet color, it is not. It is the combination and integration of all these individual colors that bring out the dynamism and vibrancy of Sunlight. It is not the individual color that has the potency of sunlight, it is the combination of the strength of the individual colors that generate the strong effect of Sunlight that nourish all plants and animals on this Earth.

Each religion and culture projects unique individual features and like the rainbow color adds to the dynamic nature of our life on Earth but when the forces of these multiculture and multi religions combine and integrate in a harmonious way, the effect is like the strong effect of the sunlight that shine and nourish this Earth so that it would never perish.

God has created the Earth in this way hoping humanity live in harmony and not in hatred against one another. This mosque is unique not because of its architectural design but because it lives harmoniously and in close proximity with other religions.

After strolling around since morning, we decided to come here to rest and have our afternoon pray. Its so breezy because it resides right on the side of the Kuching River

It's pretty grand mosque although architecturally speaking, not particularly noteworthy. The only thing that made the trip worthwhile was the cemetery and the rather quirky grave headstones.

The mosque are located at the heart of the city next to the Bus station, it is one of the oldest mosque to have build here in Kuching, back in the old days the Malay buried their family members here but nowadays they are not doing so as it is almost out of vacant. visitors are only allow to view outside of the mosque but not going into the praying area as it is a holy place for the muslim only.

The mosque is quite nice especially for its position and the cemetery on the hill. If you are in Kuching it is quite nice to see it.
