You hire a head torch at the entrance for a few Ringgits. Mine had a flat battery so saw next to nothing, couldn't even see the steps. The place has startd to decline due to lack of maintenance. Having said that, it is still well worth a visit. Very unique area, about an hours drive from Kuching

Went in November during the week and the caves were very quiet. The Fairy cave next door was closed for maintenance. The wind cave is easily accessible and because the bats tend to sleep either side if the board walk it isn't covered in guano though you do need to take a torch with you. A part of the cave was closed due to a rock fall in the recent floods but it didn't deter the bats from roosting as normal. There are some amazingly chunky stalagmites and stalactites and wear from the river over many thousands of years. Well worth a visit to see the rock formations as well as the three species of cuddly little bats.

Disappointing to see it was closed for maintenance. It was not notified in tourism websites. Drove a long way to see Wind Caves, came back empty. Unfortunately the Fairy Cave nearby also closed for Maintenance and no notice on websites. There is a view point to see the river.

It is nice that this is so easy for the average person to do! There are boardwalks throughout the entire cave, with a few different ways to go through it. A torch/flashlight is essential, as the boardwalks aren't level (there are steps in places). You get VERY up close with the bats, as some of them went flying past us in places. It was an excellent place to see bats and other birds well, and we took about an hour at the caves. We drove a rental car, and it was really easy to find parking and find other things in the area along the way to see, do, eat, etc.

these caves have stood the test of time and it is phenomenal to think that maybe millions of years of natural history is available here in Sarawak in this lifetime, it is a natural Wonder that must be seen to believe no television program or documentary can do justice to this place you have to see it to value it. This makes you realise that we are only a small component in this life and its journey that is short every effort must be made to learn more.

It's a half hour intro to bats and swiftlet habitats. Trail can be slippery at points so watch your step.
No mosquitoes in the cave but was badly bitten on exit, when we took the forest trail. Bring insect repellant.
[Overall, it made me admire so much more the tough and brave Thai kids - who survived ten days (or more?) in far more dire circumstances.]

Take a head torch to enjoy the caves with free hands. Excellent walkways through the caves but with some steps. The wooden walkways outside can get very slippery after rain. Be mindful of low hanging vines from the forest trees.

Fairy Cave is closed temporarily, so we came to Wind Cave. Overall, pretty neat, three short walks, there are a variety of bat species, plus some of the swiftlets nesting. You can see some close up. Really pretty nice to visit, be sure to take a torch or flashlight.

Hi. I planned to visit the Wind Cave with my family members with some kids of 10 years old. I wonder if I can get a guide to tour the wind cave at the entrance?

There's no guided tour at the entrance, but you can hire one in Kuching city. There are various tour agency offering a day trip tour to those area.

Hallo iedereen,
Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me of how I need to get there by public transport from Kuching and where I need to be?
I am planning to visit Borneo in august and also be in Kuching.
Is this also doable with a 7 year old child?
Is it better to take a guide, what is your experience?
How much will it cost me to do this trip, I am talking about public transport and maybe guide and entrance and so.
Thanks in advance for your response.
