    Amazing quiet little island
Sapi is very calm and beautiful. It's waves are calm and water crystal clear. I spent half a day there and was very happy. Compared to Manukan, Sapi was very clean and clear of rubbish and had less tourists. However, if you are a solo traveller it's about luck if you can get there. The boat operators had a hard time accepting me as I travelled solo because they would not get enough profit. I almost got stranded going back to KK. One can't just get into a boat at the timing you want. It's not like there's one or two general ferry operators and anyone can buy a ticket and just go. No. It's all different tour operators and their profits. I met the same guy when I went to Manukan, was nice to me because his boat was full of people. The next day I went to Sapi which was further (actually just another 5 minutes) I asked him who I should meet (a different operator) he was extremely rude to me and looked at me with vitriol and hate and said they'll come to you. I will not recommend KK islands to anyone honestly just because of the operators. The entire system was awful and greedy and add to pollution. Shame on Sabah.

    Sapi Island pleasant day trip
Disappointed with the corals. Mostly dead and brown. Surprisingly there were still nemos and other small fish around. Water visibility was okay in shallow water not in the deep. Low tide so much of area was roped off to protect what coral is left. The non swimmers with life jackets and croc shoes on still kicked the reef. Sad. Water temp was great and sandy beach with swings was a nice touch. Lifeguards on duty to control people out of unsafe areas. Showers and toilets with cafe for drinks and food. A pleasant day trip. Spoilt in Australia with our coral reefs which are alive and well.

Sapi island review

It seems there was a lack of explanation overall.

I was told,

"Wait at the bench straight ahead.
A staff member will call you!"

However, even after waiting for 40 minutes and asking a nearby staff member,
it seemed the boat had departed without me.

I wonder why they didn't confirm the number of passengers.

Responses varied:
"We didn't know you were there!"
"I was sitting there."
"You weren't holding a ticket!"
"We weren't told that."
"Busy! Busy!"

I'm at a loss for words.

The same thing happened on the return boat.

Even though I hold a ticket and was sitting,
it happened again.

"I said 'blue ticket,' but you didn't come!"

...Even though I didn't hear.

Overall, it's quite sloppy.

Without admitting mistakes,
they say, "It's not my fault!"

The island is beautiful, but the staff was terrible.

I don't want to go again.

Love Sapi Island. It has a nice vibe with beach options on either side of the jetty. The beach is clean with lots of space to snorkel. We also ventured up the island to complete the walking track. We did it in slides but I would suggest shoes for a more enjoyable time. We also saw a number of different animals on the track.

The island is pretty good. It is very pretty, but unfortunately there is a lot of rubbish around.

In addition you are charged a fee to keep the area clean. I don't know where that money goes. Maybe it's better not to go on this tour.

Nice beach with clean warm water. It was small but there was no trash or debris on the sand. Kept clean and was enjoyable.
