The price for fishing is rm21.20 for a whole day. Catch only few small fish. Will definitely visit again. Its walking distance to putrajaya botani park. Free car park, food price is ok at the cafeteria, toilet and praying room for muslim is well mantained and clean. Boat rental is rm42.40 for a whole day.

So I decided this time that we had to do some walking after almost 2 weeks of food fiesta in KL to hop to the Putrajaya Wetlands!
The drive took about 20-25 minutes or so from Petaling Jaya or say KL. Upon entering the gated area, I parked at one of the abundant lots available. We then headed straight to the main hut. This is where you get some information or a map of the park. Nothing fancy but works. You can also rent bicycles for RM10 and hour each and same for the kids bikes. However kiddos who ride on 2 wheels wouldn’t want to as the kiddy bikes comes with extra wheels and are mainly for young ones who can’t ride properly yet. The adult bikes are ok, mountain bikes.
Anyway... we decided not to rent and walk instead. Nearby was the “Watch Tower”, nothing like Lord of the Rings though but it was about if I recalled correctly 3 storeys and 18M high where you get a magnificent view of the surroundings. Most go up then go back down as if it was a routine. Why? Great place for a photo shoot!
Along the way we chanced upon an information board where it states the diverse species of flora and fauna found in this manmade Park. Its good to know that there are over 50,000 plants/trees planted there! You will also get to learn various species and its origin all nicely plated.
Afterwards, we walked towards the pond, maybe part of the lake, where we watched them graceful flamingos, pink flamingos!
On the other side, there were storks, ducks, swans, pelicans and Egyptian white geese. This is the first time I saw all in one place. The experience - awesome! So if you have kids, good to go.
On top of that, there is a Centre ( I forgot name )where you can learn a thing or two about the native species of some fish, plants and animals found in Malaysia. However the interactive Centre is somewhat not up to standards in terms of crowd control so you don’t get that quiet atmosphere inside. There is also a cineplex inside which runs twice a day. So check times before heading over. It’s free, you’re welcome.
So I spent about 2.5hours there and that was about it. Do take food before going over. Bring along water. No major eatery inside. Food is about 7-10KM away in that precinct.
Take note all pets are not allowed but do bring your horses if you own one. No kidding.
All da best!

Visited the park on saturday for a morning jog at 8am. The lake is beautiful and some part of it is good but in general it is not very jogger-friendly as some paths were rocky. My wife and I had bad experience jogging. At one point, we were all alone, in front of us were three foreign-looking guys dressed in orange, two of them were swinging their parangs while looking at us without smiling. We were terrified not sure if they were trying to rob us or what. We greeted them and said hello while we quickly walked past them. I could not imagine going there alone. We did not feel safe. Also at some point, we had to go below the high-tension power tower. Again, we felt extremely uncomfortable worrying about the radiation it might have caused on us. That was our first time and last time.

The wetlands park in Putrajaya is a nice way to spend some time outdoors not too far from KL. There are plenty of trails for walking and/ or cycling and plenty of small wildlife. In addition to the flamingos which the park is famous for, we saw a flock of yellow orioles, several woodpeckers, some macaques, and even a few bats. Given the variety of fruit trees, I expected to see more monkeys. We had an enjoyable ~3 hour wander around.
I took a star because the only toilet facilities we saw were in the parking lot. If there are more, signs pointing to them would be helpful. Also, having more flat, paved paths would make the park more accessible.
There are also camping facilities.

Entrance is free. Good if you want to spend half a day outdoors with the kids. They have scheduled tram rides, or you can rent bicycles (some come with carriers if you have young kids) to cycle around the park and spot a few birds along the way.

The park is public, you can take them inside the park and visit the lake, museum, and park areas free of charge. You only need a car to get inside and organize your own program.
