We bought 2 boxes, the flaky brown molasses (green box) and flaky mung bean pastry (brown box). The flaky brown molasses was hard and dry. Didn’t taste very fresh. The flaky mung bean pastry didn’t taste fresh at all.

One of the famous household name in Penang popular for its Ghee Hiang baby-logo sesame oil. I visited the main store on Feb. 3 and bought some of their signature sesame oil and Penang style cookies. A better customer service at the reception with a more friendly store personal to introduce the available products might be necessary to maintain an overall impression and the long term heritage of the brand.

To a local Penang-nite, it is my first time after 2 years purchasung the local delight. I was shock on how much the price hike in the Tau Sar Pneah in Penang.
While i understand one is with individual packing, but a nearly a 50% price difference per piece is ridiculously unacceptable! Feeling cheated.

These biscuits always make an ideal gift/souvenir from Penang. Love the new packaging & great to see innovation and creativity being infused into a brand that is over 160 years old.

We haven't tried any of their products, we made some straight purchase for gifts because we trusted their name. They offered pies with various fillings beside their famous sesame oil. Price was reasonable. Clean store with spacious parking space. The old lady who served us was nice.

I went to the Ghee Hiang outlet along Beach Street which is a UNESCO world heritage building. There's a cafe behind the store selling amazing local breakfast. As I love tau sar peah, I bought a box of it together with a box of beh teh saw, Heong Peah and almond cookies just for the sake of trying out the variety. Lo and behold, the almond cookies are the best! I simply love the freshness and crispiness from every individually wrapped products! Each almond biscuit is individually wrapped thus retaining the freshness! No wonder the business can survive 163 years and has expanded to other states! The food is amazing! The outlet in KL Lot 10 sells tau sar peah at RM 4.30 more expensive than in Penang though. The rest of the products are also pricier in KL but not as big a difference compared to tau sar peah. Anyhow, this is a highly recommended place to purchase local Malaysian pastries. I guess I can just purchase from the outlet in KL if I crave for it the next time. Good souvenirs to bring home for sure.

Bought some famous Penang “Tau Sar Pneah” and Oriental Almonds Cookies here famous of its 100 over years of business by generation. Many delicious biscuits and cookies were made with its delicious taste and famous texture. It still keep its original taste and legacy of biscuits from generation to generation. Many people drop by to this place to buy their favorite biscuits as a gifts to their friends and relatives ☺️☺️☺️
