A must do. For a small fee we had the entire complex to ourselves to explore during the off peak hour. Intricate paintings and carvings beautifully restored.

This place is one of those rare gems that came back from the brink. Thoughtfully put back but unchanged so that future generations get a glimpse of the past. It is in an area steeped in traditional past. Come take a look and be refreshed by an old charm.

We visited this temple while we were in Penang for a short getaway. This temple lies at Canon Street in George Town. It's not very obvious where the temple is located as there is a alley you need to take before seeing the actual temple. There is a small entrance fees to this site. The temple is one building. In... One of the largest clan houses in town and very impressive. Spent at least 30 minutes wondering around and taking some shade from the sun outside. An interesting room to see where the children of the clan have gone to university around the world and the subjects. A little musuem under the main hall is also interesting.

This is a beautiful building, with a lot of history, as it has been occupied for many centuries and for at least 43 generations. And you can see their remains in special containers as you enter the courtyard! Stand in one place and rotate to take in the magnificence of the buildings and the carvings, lanterns, and paintings. Then visit... More

There are a number of Kongsi's in the vicinity of Canon and Armenian Streets but the Khoo Kongsi stands by itself. Not sure if it is the museum below which tells the story of the clan, the elaborate temple or my favourite.... just sitting on a step and gazing at the intricate carvings. Spot the creatures of the Chinese zodiac

Such a beautiful quiet and beautiful shire .It is not popular for teens and fun seeking. You come and sit and explore the historical footprint of the old Penang ancestors, then you feel want to go back home and do to your clan and grand- grand ma, pa as they are doing in this place.

The Khoo Kongsi is a must visit when travelling to Georgetown. We are in awe with the very detailed design of the architecture. The museum on the ground floor is very informative with providing the history of the clan house. If you are into history, you would spend time admiring the temple but if you're not, you'll be in and... More
