Worth the Trip, If you can find the Entrance

Without a doubt a beautiful spot to visit. Finding the entrance can be a bit of a challenge. I went in what appeared the be the front, but was shooed out by a groundskeeper. I... read more

Without a doubt a beautiful spot to visit. Finding the entrance can be a bit of a challenge. I went in what appeared the be the front, but was shooed out by a groundskeeper. I then went around to an entrance on the Armenian Street side, but was told I needed to have a ticket, but not told where to... More

Take time and read the information, look at not just the art, sculpture, symbolism but also read the information posters in each place. You can stroll through and appreciate the beauty and art in under an hour. To appreciate the history and culture, it will take two hours or longer. Maybe not for children, who would not care for the... More

Magnificent Chinese clan house to visit, an enjoyable cultural experience, gives a good insight into the history of Chinese settlement in Malaysia.

When we went there was scaffolding in the front which took away a little from the view. The museum underneath with the history of the clans was really interesting and the inside of the temple is quite nice.

We went into the Khoo Kongsi expecting the majestic picture that we find on websites. In real life it's less glamorous particularly in the day. It certainly has a lot of personal history that links back to Singapore where I'm from. However, the Kongsi was partially under renovation when we visited but we paid the same entrance fee and weren't... More

This huge Chinese clanhouse is considered the grandest clan temple in all of Malaysia. Get mesmerized with its elaborate, ornamented architecture, its long history of Chinese culture. It is also used as an association building, a traditional theater and old rowhouses for family members.

We visited the temple to see the intricate architecture, but on going in realised that the outside facade is being renovated. However the carvings/ paintings inside are nice. Also the gallery is very informative, making for an interesting visit.

Even though the main hall was undergoing a maintenance which spoiled the panoramic view of the mall hall, I was still amazed by its architecture, especially the decorations (stone carvings, wood carvings and paintings). It is the best clan house to visit in Penang.

Location: good Price: reasonable but should ask if it is under construction or not, when we were there, it was and we paid to see nothing because staff at ticket kiosk and security person mention nothing about it, there is a small souvenir shop with cold drinks inside
