There is an entry fee of $10 ringgit and if you happen to piggy back on someone's tour it's well worth it. There r stories of ancestry of a gang which mimics other groups at that time. If u r interested in social development of a community this is a must visit. The ornaments decors r fantastic.

Congested though it seems when it comes to public holidays or weekends as one walks through Armenian Street by the alleyway of the Khoo kongsi... Before one could enter..a small admission fee for the upkeep of the temple...as one continue ...spacious as it was...the magnificent...majestic of its beauty..where one observe ...the craftmanships of the temple....imported directly from China.

The building is undergoing some restoration work but you are still able to walk through and admire the workmanship and detail that makes up the structure. There is sufficient description of the murals and history to give you a sense if how this building was used. It was a Sunday and the meeting hall was closed, do we didn’t get... More

Last night we attended the last Saturday day of the month light show at this magnificent temple. Yes it is undergoing festoration work at the moment , so were only able to see so e of the outside, but as it was a free night this had no bearing on the show that was put on, unfortunately the weather did.... An interesting place to visit and learn how China immigrants blended into local life. However, the main building is under some renovations.

Reasonably nice collection of historical pieces for the Chinese clan with the surname, Khoo on their ancestors' migration from China to then Malaya and how they developed and progress with their lives and business in the foreign land. Khoo Kongsi is not the only clan hall in Penang but apparently the most popular. There are others like Cheah Kongsi etc... More

I think it's worth the visit if you haven't seen an extravagant looking temple, with an opera stage, gold finishing and statues. It is interesting how it all started, and how it is passed down in generations. But I won't recommend and second visit. And it takes about an hour to look through the temple and it's history.

This temple is the most elaborate of the ancestral temples we visited in Penang. If you only see one--see this one. Unfortunately, the roof was under construction while we were there (it would have been nice to know this BEFORE we bought tickets--we still would have gone but some might not--especially those looking for pictures) and I believe they said...
