About
Unlike other black-sand beaches, this sand isn't volcanic in nature but rather is streaked black by run-off from a nearby hot spring.

Although black send fewer and fewer but still beautiful and comfortable when hearing the sound of the waves and blow it here. They also made two swings let people to play and take a photo. No need to spend many time so recommend to come if you through here, especially time close to sunset or sunrise.

Loved the folklore behind the sand. It was also very secluded and beautiful. If you walk a little bit up from the main spot, the view gets beautiful, and the sand quality gets better to. The water is also much much clearer compared to the rest of the island. Spotted a lot of crabs in the ocean.

Hmm... well I am sitting here and want to write my experience or my personal view of the black sand beach and I am a bit surprised by the comments I read.

First of all, not every beach in Asia or on Langkawi is clean. Due to the huge amount of trash in the sea, you will always get some trash on the beaches. If you don't want, reflect your own behavior in terms of using plastic. And secondly, the question is, what do you expect. We spent couple of days and hours at the black sand beach and enjoyed each and every minute. Of course, if you walk down the stairs (so people with handicap might have issues) you will have some balck sand. And it is fair to complain if you expect really black sand.

But if you walk a bit, and the beach is very, very long, if you go around some stones and corners, you will have clear water, nice white sand and, what was the main reason for us to come back, no other people. Really, if there were eight people in total (including two ladies cleaning the first meters of the beach or two kids fishing) we called it crowded. Naturally if there is nobody you won't have chairs, jetski rental or restaurant (ok there was a small one at the top of the stairs - we have not tried it - and some shops with typical tshirt stuff) but you will have silence. And you can watch the new species of people coming down, climbing stones, taking selfies and disappear again.

But please be careful. If you don't watch the tide and if you walk to much to the left you either have to stay very long or not only your feet will be wet when walking back.

Nothing much to see except black sand and loads of uncollected rubbish ... Malaysians really need to practice basic standards of hygiene !

I spent nearly like $40 on a round trip taxi to visit this attraction. All I found was an artificial looking dirty beach where the normal white sands are mixed with some black sands with rubbish everywhere, forget about swimming in that area. Even the photos turned out ugly, as if sewers are running on that beach. Don't come here.

Beach is dirty and smells. There's a water waste pipe leading from land to the beach area where people suppose to walk pass it!!? Black sand probably deteriorated over the years, not much left.

Drove on scooters all the way from the other side of the island expecting to find a black beach, reality is a regular sandy beach and spots of black here and there and s muddy shore line probably from the cement factory near by!

We went walking to the water but the sand and water were slimy and our feet got quickly ugly feeling. Beach looks nice but we are not going there again and it sure didn't invite us to go to swim.

This place is just sucks and dirty. Just skip it. Nothing to see or surprise. It's just somewhere is dirty. Don't get cheated by the "black sand" word and looks like cool attraction. No, it is not!
