Situated in the semi arid North of Kenya, in a land of endless rugged beauty and untamed wilderness, Elephant Watch Safaris has established its camp on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in Samburu National Reserve. Oria Douglas-Hamilton, together with her husband, Iain, have been associated with elephants for more than 40 years, and have been pioneers in studying the intricate lives of elephants and their intelligent social behaviour. They have brought their scientific studies to the attention of the world, highlighting a well-organised family structure, with a conscious level of emmotions, pain, speech, and protection. Elephants form an integral part of the socio economic livelihood of the Samburu people who share the land with the elephants.

It is difficult to find the words to do justice to this amazing camp. Saba's friend Hilary, who was running the camp while Saba was away on business in the States, is the kindest, most gentle lady and is the perfect hostess. I feel I have left a friend in Kenya and can't wait to go back. Her team at Elephant... More

This was a beautiful experience. We stayed there for 2 nights and 3 days and every minute of it was eventful. If you want to study and experience the wild in luxury, this is the place. I cannot say enough about the wonderful, food and respectful staff. I would recommend this place to anyone who is serious about conservation.

Elephant Watch Camp in Samburu, northern Kenya, is the BEST place to get up close to and study elephants. Set in the most beautiful and varied landscape in Kenya, the camp is affiliated with the conservation organization Save the Elephants. The warriors/guides know the elephant families that Save the Elephants has been studying for decades, their names and their individual histories.... More

First experience with a glamping safari was 3 nights here. The Samburu guides were fantastic. Saw elephants, reticulated giraffe, zebra, lions, even a leopard up a tree. Unbelievable encounters with wildlife and excellent information from guides who know many of the animals from previous encounters. Our host Saba was lovely and very welcoming. A unique experience.

Spent 2 nights and 3 days glamor camping, "glamping", while enjoying spectacular wildlife in its natural habitat. The tent was beautiful, including a full bathroom (with running hot water) and private dipping pool that overlooked the river. The day included two safari trips; one from 6am to 9am followed by breakfast, and one from 4pm to 7pm followed by dinner.... More

We spent only two nights but it was just dreamy with elephants parading through the camp. The tents & mess area have been beautifully decorated using local & indian fabrics which make everything look so cozy. The food was delicious and the wine was good. Oria is a wonderful host and makes everything seemingly effortless. After she left we were... More

Spent my last holiday in Kenya at this Camp, with my family. My husband and I had visited 6 weeks earlier and knew it would be the ideal way to rou do off our time in Kenya. Julius was, again, an exceptional guide. His knowledge of his area and the stories were amazing. My son and daughter were in awe... More
