Zelyony Bazar or the Green market is one of the few old markets still functioning in Almaty. Locals buy here different food they need, and the travellers can taste something from various cousins - Kazakh, Russian, Korean, German and many others. Lots of dried fruits, meat and poultry, diary products, fruits and vegetables, yo just have to walk through all... More

Best part is you can get to taste yummy samples! And if you find yourself running out of currency after making all the purchases... More

The Zelzony Bazaar is also known as the Green Bazaar. I visited several bazaars while visiting the Five Stans and this was one of my two favorites. There is a large selection of fruits, vegetables, dried fruits and nuts, food products etc. The vendors were especially nice and were quick to offer samples and educate you on their offerings.
