I spent a couple of hours here as I enjoyed meandering amongst the old-fashioned display cases of various clothing and artifacts from Kazakhstan’s past. In terms of English translations, halls like the traditional culture of Kazakhs and paleontology mostly have them whereas the sovereign Kazakhstan hall had minimal. But only 500 tenge entry and no one bothered me taking photos. Two halls are extra money so didn’t bother paying for them: the museum of anthropology and the gold exhibition. One giant criticism: SQUAT toilets for the ladies 🤮 It’s 2023, get Western toilets already!!!

Visiting National Museum of every country I visit is in my top priority. Many things to learn about history, traditions, culture, ethnic groups, agriculture and many others. A decent visit with a cheap entrance ticket. Many animals present in Kazakhstan wildlife, different kinds of dresses, weapons used now and during Soviet Union era, huge maps of the nation, coins, industrial buildings and others. What stopped me is a corner near entrance where you can to leave your coat hanged till end of the visit.

Really great museum, 500 tenge per adult and lots of different exhibits to see. The building alone is stunning! The displays have English labels which was extremely helpful. Fantastic for learning more about Kazakh culture and history.

The single most noteworthy item in this rich collection is probably the Golden Prince-Warrior, or Golden Man. A burial site of magnificient riches was found in 1969, about 50 km from Almaty. It was dated to 4-3 centuries BC and contained about 4,000 gold items. The reconstruction of the noble figure found there has become a national symbol of Kazakhstan. The display of traditional costumes from various ethinic groups is also impressive and visually attractive.
