- genibre69London, United Kingdom5,264 contributionsA decent place for a super cheap priceI spent a couple of hours here as I enjoyed meandering amongst the old-fashioned display cases of various clothing and artifacts from Kazakhstan’s past. In terms of English translations, halls like the traditional culture of Kazakhs and paleontology mostly have them whereas the sovereign Kazakhstan hall had minimal. But only 500 tenge entry and no one bothered me taking photos. Two halls are extra money so didn’t bother paying for them: the museum of anthropology and the gold exhibition. One giant criticism: SQUAT toilets for the ladies 🤮 It’s 2023, get Western toilets already!!!Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 30 September 2023

Many things to learn about history, traditions, culture, ethnic groups, agriculture and many others. A decent visit with a cheap entrance ticket. Many animals present in Kazakhstan wildlife, different kinds of dresses, weapons used now and during Soviet Union era, huge maps of the nation, coins, industrial buildings and others. What stopped me is a corner near entrance where you can to leave your coat hanged till end of the visit.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 23 October 2023

- Reslysten54Vienna, Virginia2,704 contributionsRich collection including the Golden Prince-WarriorThe single most noteworthy item in this rich collection is probably the Golden Prince-Warrior, or Golden Man. A burial site of magnificient riches was found in 1969, about 50 km from Almaty. It was dated to 4-3 centuries BC and contained about 4,000 gold items. The reconstruction of the noble figure found there has become a national symbol of Kazakhstan. The display of traditional costumes from various ethinic groups is also impressive and visually attractive.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 22 May 2024

Best way to learn the rich history, culture, civilization and heritage of this beautiful country. I have to struggle to find the entrance as the entire front portion was dug up and undergoing renovations. Once I entered, I was immersed in the grandeur of the country from bronze age to present times. The archeological finds, ethnographic display and a variety of exhibits is quite educative as well as informative. There is admission ticket to enter the Museum. Photography is allowed. The staff are extremely polite and helpful to understand the exhibits in proper perspective. I suggest that there should have been a brochure in english for visitors like me. Not to be missed.

A great way to learn about the history of Kazakhstan. This is one of the largest museums in Central Asia and provides an overview of the history and ethnography of the country. A key exhibit is the exact miniature copy of the military uniform of the "golden man" made from over 4000 golden parts.

It's easy to reach via public transport, surrounded by parks. Now there is construction work around it, so you need to enter on the left side of the building.
Cheap tickets, some interesting exhibits. Mostly archaeology and history, It could be made more exciting, but it is quite interesting as it is.
Was not allowed to use my camera, maybe phones work.

It was a nice experience to visit a place where you can discover the history of this country, it’s not like a Nur-Sultan first president museum but is good enough!

Haven't been there since Middle school years. Was well impressed by progress happened during last fifteen years. Firstly, ticket price changed. Now its 300kzt for locals and 500kzt (~1,6$) for foreigners. Also every exhibit was provided by description in 3 languages (Kazakh, Russian and English). And you can order a guided tour as you wish for an additional price.
Museum includes three main halls:
1. Paleontological and archeological hall. It consists of local discoveries of dinosaurs and ancient life in Kazakhstan.
2. Multicultural hall. Kazakhstan is known for its hospitality and peaceful life of more than 130 different nationalities on its territory, so this hall includes exhibits of nationalities living in Kazakhstan.
3. Modern political and economical hall. The last hall includes objects that been important for us since Kazakhstan became a Sovereign country.
There were some other exhibitions for additional price we couldn't see, but if you have an opportunity to visit it, I think it won't take a lot of time, so it's up to you.
One disappointing thing was that not all the staff can speak English well so be prepared not to have a chance to recieve appropriate answers.

I went to this museum with the promise that it was somewhere I could spend two whole days in. It has, in fact, only two permanent exhibits, one on the history of Kazakstan, and one on the life of the president. The cost seemed very inviting, but you ended up having to pay 5 times as much as the entry fee to get into the temporary exhibits too. I saw the whole place in 2 hours, and that included 1/2 hour wandering around the craft fair in the atrium.

Located in the city center , big 80s building , easy to recognize. The entry ticket is 500tt , I suggest to purchase also the archeological part ticket too , it’s a separate ticket for a separate area , quiet interesting. There are some interesting spots , the old nomads life , the actual Kazakistan programs in oil industry and aerospace .
Unfortunately the gold objects part was under renovation.
May be implemented.

We took an Uber ($1.31) from our Kazzhol Hotel for the 4 km uphill to this distinctive 1985 building. After paying 500 Kzt each, we climbed a stair set to the expansive Great Hall then up more to the main hall devoted to the Kazakh nomad, with a beautifully decorated yurt, weaving looms, and costumes of the various tribes. The other side was devoted to their present day of independence, oil, and space.
The basement began with dinosaur finds, a mastodon, prehistoric man, great waterwheel, 1900 tractor, immigration, and several medieval archaeology displays.
Overall this is a wonderful museum with many descriptions in English but designed to have as many steps up and down as possible to see their entire collection. Without the 2 special exhibits, we spent 1.5 hours.
Unfortunately, the large ground floor toilet block was very smelly, unclean, and offered only squat type toilets.
