The memorial of glory is a monument located in Panfilov Park. The park is named after the 28 guardsmen killed whilst defending Moscow during the German invasion in the Second World War.
The impressive memorial of glory is a triptych. There are three memorials: Alto Relievo ‘Oath’ - depicting a young soldier leading his fallen comrades horses. Alto Relievo ‘The Feat’ - which depicts the heroes / Panfilovs who defended Moscow and finally Alto Relievo ’Trumpeting Glory’ - depicting the anthem of a triumphant life.
For me, the most impressive of the memorials is the largest and is ‘The Feat’. There is also an eternal flame in front of it.
It is all within easy walking distance of Ascension Cathedral and the military museum. A must see.

Glory Memorial is a wonderful story about 28 soldiers who lost their lives during the World War II while defending Moscow from German army. Well known story, but you need to read before you go, so as to understand. Or else, be with a Kazakh guide who can explain you what you see. In there, all signage is in local language.

Impressive memorial site located in a central Almaty park. It is part of a larger complex and this monument is called "the feat" and depicts the images of panfilov soldiers who defended Moscow. The words of Panfilov's political commander are carved on the podium which our guide tells us says: "Russia is great and there is no retreat. Moscow is behind us!".

Located in a central Almaty park the military memorial marks the loss of soldiers during conflicts during the 1900’s. The main memorial sculpture is very impressive within a peaceful park setting along with an internal flame. Definitely worth a visit. As always go with a knowledgeable guide to get the benefit of the full history.

Although the history of what happened outside Moscow has been questioned, the memorial is very moving and shows the impact and memories of the population.

Americans do not fully appreciate the impact of WWII on the Soviet Union. This memorial, like some others, displays both the courage of the soldiers and the enduring memories that still shap the intense feelings today. Our guide was in tears relating what happened in his family. Do not miss

It feels different. There is a song which is being played there continuously. I was not able to understand but I am sure it would be a petriotic song. We really clicked a lot of pics and it was good fun

Wow, did the architect get that one right! This is by far the most beautiful monument I've seen in Central Asia. Just the amazing story behind it, this design is superb and couldn't have been done better!

If you still love or miss USSR, this is a place to visit. If you are more critical in life, this is a good place to see how legends were created to brainwash people. That 'wash' was so good that it is still works for many of us who were born in the USSR.

The sheer size is imposing and we actually stood quite in awe of this monument. The outline of the USSR is evident and the central figure incredible.
