Came to see this tourist spot on the recommendations of a few sites - multiple courses (seems to be held only in Japanese) for both kids and adults to learn some of the traditional crafts - crafts includes building of chests of drawers, making different local delights, screen painting etc - highlight for me is the beautiful cast iron teapots... More

A group of friends and I went to Morioka Handi Works and joined a class on Kokeshi doll-painting. After a short demonstration on how to paint a doll, I started painting mine. Morioka Handiworks Square is collection of shops offering an assortment of foods and crafts indigenous to the Iwate area.
