This small museum focuses on the history of the Satake family that ruled Akita in the Tokugawa period. Lots of interesting armor, swords, etc.that are worth an hour or so if you are visiting the castle ruins. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of English explanation.

Adjacent to the Kubola Castle ruins and park is the Sakate Historical Material Museum. Entry was 100Yen. While the museum had only 2 large rooms, it was well worth a visit to see the displayed kimonos and extraordinary looking armour and face plates that had been clearly designed to frighten and scare during battle.
