Because it was raining, I just walked around the lower levels of the park, near the moats. As it was autumn and the lotus leaves were dying off I was able to watch staff clearing away the remnants of the plants.

Senshu Park is seldom crowded. It is most beautiful when the cherry blossoms are out in late April, autumn, or in winter after a fresh snowfall.

Really nice park to walk around in with traditional japanese gardens. A bit hilly and stairs if you want to see most of it but worth it. Great old small castle on top of the hill and added bonus is that local Akita dog breeders...More

Just walk about 15 minutes, then you can get away from thew city and enjoy quietness and nature. Also they have Akita inu, which you can pet.

It was a hot day with a lovely breeze. We did a relaxed walk around the park. Pleasant couple of hours.

Senshu Park offers a beautiful, peaceful place in the city to spend a couple of hours. The Watchtower, at the highest point in the park, hosts a small museum. The 360 panorama from the 4th floor of the tower is awesome, and the cool breeze...More

A nice park to walk around. Worth about 60 to 90 minutes. Wouldn't go out of my way for it unless I was actually in Akita.

Was not able to go inside but was worth the walk. Very tricky too get to in winter but I was glad I made the effort.

We spent several a couple of hours exploring this large park. There are shrines, castle, statues, a lovely pond and a museum. You get excellent views over Akita too. Even though there were several school classes and buses of tourists, the park did not feel...More

Yes, it should be open. I saw pictures people posted when they visited there during winter season
