This is an excellent stop. It was sold as "...a great stop that will be beautiful and inspirational..." It delivered on all counts.

What a lovely place this was. We walked to the temple from our hotel (not recommended) and it is quite a hike up the hill. There is the observatory at the top and the fine botanical gardens to see. Hourly bus service to and from...More

A beautiful setting and great temples, moss garden entrance, some amazing statues in the treasure hall. Free, though it is worth paying the small fee to enter the main hall and see the garden behind it.

Very neat place to see, clearly still a thriving sacred place for locals. With a mystical charm and atmosphere, this beats having to fight back fatty crowds of Chinese and American tourists in Tokyo.

This temple area is just amazing: tranquil and beautiful - thoroughly Japanese. I really wish we had had more time to spend here in order to just sit quietly and reflect. There is so much to see, yet everything is so peaceful. The workers in...More
