If you come to Takamatsu, this is a place you must stop by.
There is something simple, lovely and cute.
I bought a turtle hug.
(There was a very beautiful aquarium where guppies (Endlers) with a Japan blue tail were swimming at the base.)

The shopping area itself is not outstanding but the shops are a nice collection, not touristy, not crowded, not noisy . . . Had an enjoyable time.

The covered shopping street, which actually forms a T, offers every imaginable kind of store. Tiffany's to Pachinko parlors. It's got it all! Great place to wander and be out of the weather.

I did not know that Takamatsu has so many shotengai or shopping alleys. They're very much vibrant and alive with cafes and all kinds of shops. If you walk all the way to the end of Minamishinmachi you will find yourself a short walk from the north entrance of Ritsurin Koen.

It is a simple shopping mall, selling grocery for locals, dining and some entertainment things like "pachinko" for locals, but its very extensive and big, take special note of restaurants that serve local produce and the local most famous dish-BBQ chicken leg. There are more than one restaurants service such dish, and most of them are pretty good, rule of thumb-go for the one with the most customer!

Also do try udon-thick noodle soup, again there are many restaurants serve udon, rule of thumb, go with the restaurant with the most people! get to this shopping mall via Kotoden electric railway and get off at Kataharamachi station, right in the heart of the shopping mall is a leisure and relaxing way to get to this shopping mall

I recently spent about half a day walking through the shopping streets. Starting from an entry point near the Takamatsu train station. Most of the shops stayed open even though it was getting dark at around 4pm. There were pretty illuminations along the streets since it's year-end, therefore making my walk very relaxing and pleasant in the cold weather. Somewhere in the middle, there was a Christmas marche with stores selling xmas gifts and food items.

It won’t make sense to compare this street with the 5th of NY, or Ave. Monaigne, Paris, or Ginza Tokyo... This lovely, long shopping arcade is unique of it’s kind, fits well for it’s local residents in a city like Takamatsu (高松).
Not a place to look for very high end fashion or luxury stuff, but there were lots of interesting small shops and boutiques, and things practical and useful in daily life. There we found furniture store, pharmacy, grocery store, supermarket with imported goods, cute little hair dressing place, spa, Francfranc, traditional Japanese gift shops, clothing, boutique with french names, nice bakeries, specialty tea and coffee shops, Japanese tableware, a large book store on the second
floor of a shopping complex, with very nice sitting areas outside the entrance for reading; some modern department stores, cafes and restaurants. The new Mitsukoshi was close by a small market place, and banks, and even a branch of China Bank.
The other side of the street was full of eateries with various choices.

We spent the first night dining at Tairyo D.Kokoro (大漁) with great sushi and a very relaxed stroll after dinner. I loved the Christmas trees and seasonal lightings along the boulevard. The next morning,we enjoyed our simple breakfast at Doutor Coffee
( my favourite budget cafe in JP), bought some crafts and souvenirs, and surprisingly found a place for a perfect light lunch for only 700yens, with salad, meat, egg, sandwich, mini soup, dessert and tea.
There were artistically designed benches in the middle of the road
for pedestrians to rest, something worth to mention.
We truly enjoyed our evening stroll and the morning walk, and
I missed this place after I returned home...

Tired from shopping? Then look no further because this place has a lot of restaurants, too. The place is covered, so you don't have to worry during rainy days.

This is an outdoor/indoor mall that is more than one walking street. It runs for miles. The prices are a bit higher because it is for tourists but it has everything you might want in one place. Or just window shop for miles.

Most of the cities we visited had long covered shopping streets. In truth they were all pretty much the same so once we'd seen one ......
Worth visiting if you've not seen similar elsewhere.
