Wonderful, beautiful gardens. Well worth the very cheap entrance fee. Visit the baby koi pond near the back and feed the little ones. Also there is a separate pond off to the left side of the gardens that has all the less colorful carp. There is a carp food machine there. Make sure you feed them, they seem hungrier than the others.

It costs 400¥ to enter, there’s a recommended route and it brings you pretty much around the whole garden (skipping some areas). Other than the pond area with the stone bridges, I found the rest of the forested area rather mundane. It’s quite rocky and may not be safe for kids to run around too.

Very well built garden with some nice paths to walk and a bunch of good spots for nice pictures. Relaxing and beautiful, well worth the time spent.

I visited Shikinaen Garden on a perfect sunny day in December. Entrance fee was cheap, I think it was ¥400. The garden is pretty large, with a palace, pond, trails, etc. It was fun to walk around the palace then venture onto the trails cutting across the pond. Everywhere you walk, there are amazing views. There are also places with benches and shade so visitors can relax and take their time. I got lucky, the day I went (might be daily, not sure) there was a half hour show with traditional sanshin music and dances. This was an incredible experience. I hope one day visitors can come and I can show them Shikinaen Garden.

A beautiful, historic location. You can easily spend 2 hours walking in the gardens. The peace and tranquality is fantastic. We REALLY enjoyed it and will be going back again soon!

For a pleasant stoll in the park, you can not go wrong here. The grounds are well maintained and designed. Most of it is level but there are areas those with mobility issues need to avoid. The plants, buildings, ponds and streams made for a quiet, peaceful walk.

Given the history of wartime Okinawa, it was pleasant change to have a peaceful place to visit and to contemplate the brutal destruction these unfortunate Okinawan peasants endured.

This park-like setting is a truly outstanding look at how ancient royals lived. It is maintained in impeccable condition and is very peaceful and pleasant.

The main residence is re-created in an authentic and accurate manner, and is delightful to walk through. The grounds are truly stunning.

First off, I love gardens and hidden greenscapes I can visit. This gets the added benefit of being small enough to enjoy and having some history wrapped up into it. We loved it here. It was a real treat to walk amongst the Chinese buildings and the greenery while forgetting about the hub-bub of Naha. Please visit and enjoy.
