The Makishi public market is a great place to wander about looking for souvenirs, food products and terrific places to eat. The seafood market is especially worth your visit with vendors selling fresh fish, lobster, crab, shrimp, etc. You can purchase items from any stall...More

This was an small and dirty fish market with not many choices to choose from. We spent about 30 mins maximum walking around this place and beyond that it was time to leave. It's worth a visit if you're in the area, but expect to...More

It's a public market where people still sell fresh food. It's fascinating to walk through as you can clearly see the Japanese and other Asian influences in the food and the way the market is structured. It's worth a walk through, but you probably will...More

Overly priced and one can get better dishes at other less touristy fishing markets. Still worth coming to take a look at what they offer especially since it is located in a good area.

Of course there were a lot of tourists but the stores inside were good for local people too. You could get fruits, vegetables and regular food and cheap clothes. I've been to Waikiki and that was really expensive compared to this. Anyway it was fun...More

Do visit for the sashimi sold by the fish vendor. They are reasonably priced and in fact much cheaper than you having at a restaurant. The snacks sold at the stores in the market was not cheap as previously thought as cheaper prices for the...More

The biggest selling point of this market is that you can choose the seafood from the stalls and bring it to the restaurant upstairs to cook for you. It is for sure quite an experience for any first-time visitor.

There is grocery store outside the market, just short walk away from the fishmongers. They will direct you to the place. No worries.

In my opinion, the Makishi public market cannot be compared to the fish markets in Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, or the other big cities of Asia. It is comparatively small, but located in a popular area. It will move to a new... More
