Visited Nokonoshima island for cycling with a small group and for camping. It is a quick escape from the city with a ferryboat from Meinohama Ferry Terminal. The park at the top of the island has beautiful flower gardens and nice cafes.

You need around 1.5 hour to walk the whole park and take many pictures. There's a field with early and late blooming cosmoses, both were in bloom on 1st November 2021. The lawns are great for relaxing and having a picnic. Admission is very expensive for a park-1200 yen, and the bus from the ferry terminal costs 240 yen one way, plus the ferry from Fukuoka to Nokonoshima is 260 yen one way, so it adds up. There's a great sunset view from the park though, and the whole area is at the highest point on the island, so you get many great photo spots in almost all directions.

Beautiful island! It was almost like stumbling upon paradise. A little hilly if you struggle to walk but the park offer umbrellas and walking canes to borrow. Great facilities, with volley ball court and places to play golf and soccer if you want to have an active time. There are some great restaurants and a cute cafe there too and transport to and from the island is great. It's super easy to navigate and the staff were very friendly. There is also a bunny petting zoo and goats on the island. The flowers are stunning and you could spend hours here without even realising. Definitely best to go mid to late April for the best sakura bloom.

Nothing to see. winter is not a good time to go.
We went thinking that the Winter flowers would be in bloom but there was hardly anything to see.
Very Hilly Area also.

If you’re into flowers, and very little time to spend in Fukuoka, best go visit Uminonakamichi instead. But if you want to escape all the cities hustle and bustle Nokonoshima is a good laid back trip. Once you drop off from the ferry, board the bus to Island Park directly as there are only two buses per hour.
I made the mistake of going to the market to see whats up and ended up wasting an hour waiting for the next bus.
Anyway unlike Hiroshima’s Miyajima, this island is much more smaller and simpler with a population of just 700 people. Not that many attractions besides the island park, but good to know the money you spend here will be great help to sustain the small community’s lives.

Always check www or ask Japanese to call and ask. I did not know how to get to the seaside from Hakata Hotel Croom because my friend picked me up but once I crossed the ferry , there was bus waiting to take us up to the park. You have to pay for Ferry Bus and the entrance ticket to the Park .

This island is great. The return ferry trip costs 460 yen. When you get off you can rent electric bikes for 1700 yen for the day. The nature walk is enjoyable. You also get great views of Fukuoka city.
The flower park is very pretty. The animals in the petting zoo had water unlike what the reviewer below me said. They also had grass to eat and appeared to be well looked after. I had a thoroughly enjoyable day on the island.

We got the bus from Tenjin, number 300 cost 370 yen to port. 230 yen to island. The island itself is a lot bigger than expected, as we had gone to see the park at the far end of it. It was a lovely sunny day when we went and the breeze was really good.

The flowers where beautiful. And it was a lovely park. But the animals in the petting zoo had no water and it was 40’C+ the day I visited. I couldn’t find a single staff member to tell, as well as lack of water one of the horses was lame in its back left leg probably due to neglect or the rotten floor boards they had in their enclosure. I hope it was just a one day thing but I sadly doubt it :(

We went there to celebrate our daughter’s 12th birthday, and for her, Nokonoshima was the best part of the trip!

It was a pleasant ferry ride from Meinohama port, with the cool breeze of spring. Very accessible from Hakata station, just take the Noko Tosenba route.

Once you arrive at Nokonoshima, I highly recommend to take the bus from the port to the park since it’s quite a walk.

The flower beds were a sight! The playground was rustic but solicits absolute fun for the children (and adults too) especially the swing. There are also bunnies and other animals beside the playground which will certainly make the trip more delightful.

It had a very nice view of the neighboring islets, perfect for those who just want to reflect.

This is a great way to take a break from city life and be closer with nature. Highly recommended for the family!
