We caught the train from Kyoto but you could also catch it from Osaka. We’ve entered a new saying into our vernacular - Nara full. Which means even when you think something is full you can squeeze more in - just like the train trip...More

We took the tour to Nara from Osaka though it's easier if you take it from Kyoto since it's closer. We took a day tour that covered the Nara park and the pagodas and shrines in its vicinity and within Nara. I would advise anyone...More

It's fun, The park is beautiful with many cherry blossom and free roaming deers. We can buy deer food and feed the deers. It's fun to watch as the deers were waiting and asking for the food.

Considered in Shinto to be messengers of the gods, Nearly 1200 deer in Nara has become a symbol of the city. Deer crackers are for sale on the street around the park, and some deer learned to bow to travelers to ask to be fed.

I went Nara Park with my husband and my dog to see deer. Deer were friendly. Some of them intimidated my dog but young deer were gentle and easy to scare. I note two points learned when I touched deer. 1. Deer are in wide...More

The park shares it's location with a number of other equally impressive attractions. It's huge and In itself is a pleasant and serene place to visit. The trees, the well kept ground and of course the deer. It's a short walk from the train station...More

A large beautiful park with multiple sources of appeal: large grounds, beautiful views, the deer, temples, and a variety of paths to take. Lots of fun

I love the deers. They can get a bit agressive if you taunt them (as seen with other visitors) but so long as you are friendly and feed them, you are good to go. Keep a close eye on the kids (in case they are...More

Deers are there all the time though the year and winter time is very cold but very beautiful. If you have snow that will be a bonus!!

There is a special bus that conducts you from the bullet train station directly to Nara park entry. However even within the park it's a fair amount of walking. To see the Buddha temple too it's a walk, although the deer are... More

As the park is an open area, I don't think it could be closed. However, when darkness falls, people would start moving out & most if not all the tourist sites would begin to close for the night. I guess it would be deserted... More
