We made a small detour to visit this Shrine and it was really worth it! Quiet atmosphere and beautiful cherry trees in bloom) Don’t hesitate to make a short pause there n your way from the railway station to Todai-ji Temple!

In any other location such an old shrine would not be overlooked. Nara is different. The site here dates back over 1,100 years, but the shrine is not quite that old. It has a pleasant pond and cherry trees in the front and the usual...More

Right in Nara Park, easily accessible, Himuro Shrine is dedicated to people who make ice and you can get a fortune that shows up when you put it on a block of ice. When getting my goshuin there, the clerk was nice enough to allow...More

By the time of our visit to this Shrine in early April, no flowers from the sakura trees could be seen around. Completely different from that of last year. A bit disappointed and just took a few photos and left for the main temple.

This is a pretty little shrine very close to the National Museum. There are so sakura trees here and hence good for visiting during cherry blossom season.

This is another shrine and the first shrine you see on your way to the main temple hence why it's so busy but it's a fairly small temple. We didn't go inside but from the outside it's lovely quaint temple rather than impressive.

During our visit to Nara this year by early April, cherry trees in most of the tourist spots were still in the bud stage except Shinto Shrine where all the cherry trees particularly the weeping ones were all in full bloom and thus there were...More

A small temple in Nara, currently very pretty because of the cherry blossom 🌸🌸 covering the entrance I wouldn't bother otherwise

The simplicity of this place and its connection with nature- ice - reveal much about the Japanese love of simple natural things in their everyday life

Just another average shrine. I did not find this one such a must visit place, even if it was so high positioned here on TA.
