I have been in Japan 3 weeks and this was the best Garden complex i've seen. Not very busy so can relax but beautiful. There are many different Gardens so easier to find a quiet spot. Must visit and 100% worth the money.
We wondered whether to combine a visit to Kokoen gardens with Himeji Castle. We had a few hours in town and it was only extra 30 yen for a combine ticket so we went for it.

This is a beautiful collection of five (I think) different sorts of gardens that compliment each other and Japan. This is a stunning area and a lovely walk. Look out for the White Cranes (the Local Emblem of the Castle) and enjoy the tranquillity.
