We alighted at bus stop 37 for this Falls. There were lots of autumn foliage to be seen here. There are also a number of food stalls here. We walked up the stairs for an even better view of the Falls. At the top, one can cross the road to continue the trail to Senjogahara marshlands( highly recommended) or take a bus from bus stop 38 to either Yunoko Lake ( bus stop 45), Yudaki Falls ( bus stop 44) or Chuzenji Lake ( bus stop 29, 28, 27 or 26). There are many shops and restaurants at Chuzenji Lake.

One short bus ride away from our hotel. This waterfall was beautiful. There was one viewing area near a gift shop and refreshment stand. And then there were stairs up to a different part of the falls. At the time, it was a little icy but well worth the walk up. The natural beauty of Japan is wonderful to see and hear.

At the western end of Lake Chuzenji you will find these wonderful falls. They are a short and easy walk from the carpark. They were the highest of the falls we saw on our Japan trip and in total they dropped 110m. The name meant dragons head and we could see the effect as two streams of water poured down around a rock that imitated the two pronged beard of a dragon. It really was a closer and much more dramatic site that Kegon waterfall. There is a path that follows the cascading river and we followed this some way and got more and more views of the winding river and rapids. The shape of the river was perhaps the dragons’ tail. You can follow the path for a couple of kilometres. There is also a second carpark further up the road that can save you some walking.
