From the Outside, it's a Great View

To get a feel of the colourful history and nostalgia this vessel invokes with so many people, be sure to watch the presentation first after purchasing your ticket, then explore at your own pace. Hikawamaru’s interior is a somewhat faded and old fashioned, but great considering her age. Her Art Deco features were classy and stylish in the 1930’s, her... More

We enjoyed visiting this liner turned museum. Being one of the few NYK liners to not be sunk during WWII, it serves as a good history lesson during it's sailing days from the early 20th century to after WWII. There is a companion NYK museum which should be visited together. there are also downloadable discount coupons on their website.

Allways been interested on the sea and ships. This was a very interesting Place to visit and extremely cheap. Well worth to visit of you stop near by. Nice history and well arranged tour. You can see lots of things that you wouldn't in typical museum ships. Also tourists are take into a notice well. Lots of english guidance.

The Hikawamaru is exhibited near to the Yamashita park. This is one ship from 1930s and survived the second world war. With a reasonable ticket we could take a tour inside the vessel and could get a view of the entire ship. It was a great self guided tour inside and took us back to the golden era of water... More

Came upon this ship by chance wandering around Yamashita Park and decided to take a tour based on its historic significance. It was well preserved with the ticket counter inside the ship and a self guided tour through the decks and lounges with displays on tables and some cabins set out how they originally were. The tour goes to the... More

Moored in a quiet corner by the rose garden old liner ship form early 20th century. Well preserved, with the atmosphere of the time of the Titanic. You can feel the spirit of those times of slow journey through the Pacific when no one was in such a hurry. For fans of marintime stuff and ordinary traveler is a nice... More

Very interesting tour. Only takes a couple of hours, but you can go faster or slower, whatever you choose. Most of the ship is open to the tour.

My son and I really enjoyed our visit to the ship. You can tour the ship in around an hour. It gives a fascinating insight into the role the ship played in Trans-Pacific passenger travel and cargo trade. A step into a stylish bygone era - be sure to take in the lovely Art Decco interiors and the wheel house.... More
