Lake Ashi

Nothing much to add to past reviewers. Found the ship gimmicky, but go for the views of Lake Ashi, not the ship.

We are a family of 4 from Australia with two daughters aged 13 and 11 and thoroughly enjoyed the cruise we took on the pirate ship on Lake Ashi. The tickets for first class were not much more than standard price so we lashed out and cruised first class. We were the only ones in first class and had access... More

Nice and quiet boat trip on lake Ashi, stepped of in Hakone-Machi-Ko an took a walk to the neighboring village, a bit overpriced I guess but ok. When we where here the rope-way was unfortunately closed due to increased seismic activity in the area.

Went to take this sightseeing ship and never regret it, the ship was quite well maintained and it has a lift inside the ship too! The view was really very nice and breathtaking and you could see Mt Fuji at a certain part and the lake was really beautiful! Go all the way up to level 3 to take pictures.

It's a very unique experience to take the ship to cruise the Lake Ashi. The ship, Royal II, is a first-class warship with beautiful red and white colors. The duration of the route from Togendai port to Hakone-machi port is around 45 minutes. In good weather, you can see Fuji Yama from distance. It is strongly recommend to take this... More

We surprised ourselves by enjoying our trips across the lake - we boarded as a means of transport but were unsure what to expect from a ship that looks like it came from a Disney-film. No worries, there were no costumed characters to intrude on the scenic mountain beauty, just a colourful ship full of people also looking to enjoy... More

Shaped just like a pirate ship, this one isn't hard to miss. Friends and I purchased tickets for this boat to take us around to Togendai before we made our way up to Owakudani. It's a very scenic ride out on Lake Ashi and perfect for families (visited in May 2012)

These ferries modeled on pirate ships are a great way to get around the lake and are a hit with kids. It's included in the Hakone Freepass.
