The Hakuundo-do tea 'ceremony' is a misnomer. It's a nice little building and the matcha tea and bean paste sweet were pleasant but there is no 'ceremony' at all. The tea is whipped up out the back and delivered ready to go on a tray.

A really beautiful garden, enter for free if have Hakone Pass. Lots of roses, nice fountain in the middle. A coffee shop with a view. At the bottom, there an old tea house where you can ask for a tea ceremony at an extra fee.

This was an unplanned stop while on the cable car but what a beautiful detour. We spent over 3 hours wandering around the meticulously kept gardens with many varieties of roses, hydrangeas and plants from all over the world. We had lunch at a beautiful cafe inside of the park. Would happily go back.

we almost literally stumbled into gora park on our way from our ryokan to gora station, and i'm so glad we did! this lovely little place has a variety of formal garden landscapes to explore, all tucked neatly on the hillside above town. there's a wonderful little cafe which looked enticing, though we wandered through at the wrong time (it wasn't yet lunch), and even a beautiful orchid and greenhouse. definitely worth some time if you're exploring gora - it's about a five minute walk from the station.

It’s free with a Hakone pass. It’s quite small. There is a little greenhouse, a craft store, and a tea house. It is nicely laid out. Don’t need to spend more than 20 minutes here, it worth the short uphill walk to just be there and rest for a bit.

A great way to pass an hour or two around Hakone.

Best to get off cable car at Koen-Kami and walk to top entrance, then it is all down hill. 550 yen entry fee.

Afterwards stroll to Gora station to get back down the mountain.

Roses were spectacular.

When we visited the park, we had to walk for about 10 mins from the Gora station. Trekking up an inclined road of about 40 degrees before we reach the park. Unfortunately it was raining at the time of the visit. We still bought tickets and walk round the park to visit, It was nice and cold and foggy to visit the park and see the fountain and wet flowers with at least half of them destroyed by the rain water.

We visited this place on a rainy day with our Hakone Day pass. Entry is free if you have the day pass with you. With all the clouds around us, the park had looked very mysterious and beautiful, hiding its secrets and intriguing us enough to explore it.
As we walked through the clouds it was interesting to spot the differences between the Zen gardens we had been seeing on our trip and the French Garden in front of us.
Gora Park has a beautiful craft shop and two restaurants for you to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
The Craft House has a huge collection of beads strings and other materials to make bracelets, necklace etc and it is fun for adults too.
Isshikidousarou the sandwich restaurant served us the most amazing sandwiches I've ever had. With its classy ambience, I would not be surprised if they ever played Jazz live with a full house. Even the beverages are crisp and very refreshing. Sandwich in your hand and the view of the park through large windows is just out of this world.

The other restaurant is more traditional and is a great option if you want a heavier meal. It is right next to the main fountain in the middle of the park.

It is a great stop with children and I would recommend it for all weathers.

Cheers to many more adventures

We visited this park on a rainy day. It was very pretty with some cherry blossom blooming. We found the tea house and enjoyed traditional green tea and snack. We were a little disappointed as we thought the tea would have been made in front of us. Other than that it was very interesting to see an original tea house.

The so called French park in this area has some French style buildings and landscape. However, it is a small park on the slope of Mt. Hakone. The park has a couple of greenhouses for tropical plants and flowers but it is mainly for tea time visits only.
