There are all sorts of shops from typical gift shops to clothes to chopsticks specialty stores. I recommend the amazake (sweet rice wine, no alcohol) at the end, or the rice cracker store next door. If you are in the mood for eel, there are plenty of places - I recommend Kawatoyo, but unless you get there right when they... More

Went on tour with Narita layover tour. Got some info and had some food but nothing compared to Chiba city Went around the small shops and did my best to enjoy the scenery and people with traditions.

While we were waiting for our flight back home, we had the chance to stroll down the old street of Omote-Sando. Here you will find shops after shops of souvenir items, authentic Unagi (eel fish) restaurant, ramen place, among many others. It is a lovely place to get stroll and grab a bite or some souvenir items. Along the way,... More

This is a typical temple town main street. You can find cozy tea houses, sweet shops, traditional Japanese food shops and Japanese Inn. Recommend to see such a traditional street.

This is a low impact, and low key stop, but its well worth it as its full of personality. This curving street street we were told was to mimic and eel. I don't know if that was by design or the similarities were found afterwards, but nonetheless its a great place for a stroll, window shopping, and some food. Some... More

Great street to wander through. I love watching the men preparing the eel. And smelling the chestnuts roasting and rice things. Just a very cute street to immerse in local culture

A fabulous place for the family to wander. Plenty of interesting shops and different eating houses to choose from. We had the sense that this was an area enjoyed by local Japanese people. We were able to chat with shop keepers and we genuinely enjoyed our brief time there, wishing we had time to linger longer.

Another walk in time, with old houses, anywhere from 500 to 1000 yrs old, with shops and stores that stood the test of time. Most are still family-owned from a century ago.

This is really easy to find from the Keisei train line from the airport. If you keep walking in this road you'll hit the Naritasan temple which is amazing! There are so many cute shops and restaurants along this street. Great little chop-stick shop where they'll engrave your name in your purchase for no charge, and it only takes 5... More

Be sure to take time to explore shops on both sides of the street. We watched fresh fish being cut up at the butcher and stepped in to an old chemist shop with ancient remedies. Lots to see and explore near the temple!
