A place to catch sunset and see Rishiri and Rebun islands

Most people would come here to catch the sunset in Wakkanai. A nice ocean view here and you can see both the Rishiri and Rebun islands from here on a clear day. There are several... read more

It was another beautiful place worth visiting with the beautiful scenery but again faced with the icy wind. The dolphin symbol was gorgeous. Small and interesting aquarium is nearby. A shop with interesting stuff and seafood is also nearby.

There is a light house and a science museum close by. Parking lot is free. The beach is nice. We visited both Cape Soya and Cape Noshappu.

One can board bus ノシャツブ公園 from wakkanai bus station just outside the JR Wakkanai station. Just several stops from the station, we encountered a very nice bus captain who told us; if we were to venture to the left, we might see the pack of deer. Aquarium and most of the eatery close during winter(dec onwards). For those who loves... More

It is really a SHOW for the sunset @ cape Noshappu. Beside tourists including myself and many of the locals also come to see the dramatically sunset view in the evening. Frankly, it is stunning! As good as the sunset view that i have seen @ the Nusamai Bridge, Kushiro. Therefore, this place are quite crowded and everyone was busy... More

I was here last January, for few minutes. The wind was very strong, the snow was piling everywhere... The scenery is very nice, but no more in winter. A must see, anyhow

Actually it is a cape like many others, but being the most northern was the reason to pay a visit. A car is handy as public transport does not run often. A lot of Japanese come to visit, so that is part of the fun.

The Cape Noshappu is about 10km from the city centre. The place is especially good when you visit during sunset time where you may able to see beautiful sunset if the cloud is not blocking it. Besides, you can also see the Sakhalin Island of Russia across the sea.

I hired a bike from a coffee shop in central Wakkanai. The statue is OK, but I didn't have time to stop and see the sunset unfortunately as had to catch a train. It was very, very windy out there on the peninsula, certainly blows the cobwebs away!
