Many shops in Otaru selling glass items but this is one of the biggest we went which has a wide range of items and designs. I wanted to buy a sake set which I found here - good quality and pretty. They packed it nicely but told me to hand carry onto plane. Tax free for spending above a minimum amount. I thought this place includes some glass making tour but probably I was mistaken. Nevertheless a good place to look around and get something you like

Very beautiful, crafted glassware of anything. Visit to just admire or select as souvenier/gifts. Bought some non-drip bottles for sauces. Requested shop to deliver to our hotel in Sapporo. Received items in perfect condition and all carefully wrapped.

I am fascinated by glass ever since my visit to Kitaichi Glass Museum in Otaru, Hokkaido.

Over the years since it opened in 1901, Kitaichi Glass has earned world renown, with a collection of unrivaled glass works Japanese style, country style, and western style where you can view all the ways that light can sparkle and shimmer. The popular tableware and ornamental animals in motifs representing Hokkaido’s nature seem to be screaming, “Look at me!”

Kotaichi Glass has certainly raise the profile of glass as an art form. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…

Kitaichi has three or four stores. We visited the outlet and I think we visited the main store. We liked the main store better. We specifically went for the dripless shoyu bottles which we found in both shops but we liked the designs better at the main shop.

The shop wraps them up nicely for travel. All five our ours made it home to Hawaii with no damage. We didn’t realize this at first but if you spend 5,400 yen or more, it’s duty free.

If we had more room in our luggage we would’ve bought more things.

My boyfriend also bought me a matching teardrop shaped necklace and earring set made of glass with Sakura design on them. Easy to find. It’s on the Main Street where all of the other shops are. Start at the outlet store first.

This is s well preserved part of Otaru old warehouse with the train track inside the building. You can have a beer or coffee inside the cafe with huge chandeliers. It’s cosy and peaceful inside the cafe.

The architecture is so well preserved, it’s like going back to the old days but with present day objects inside.

Not to be missed if you are in the area. You don’t have to buy any glass but just to stroll and admire the variety and workmanship of each product, that’s the highest level of enjoyment.

Depends if you want to buy anything that is glass. A lot of ornaments to buy and drinking glasses and lamps. We were disappointed not to actually see items being made.

I was most impressed with this upscale resort having "exotic wildlife" on its property!
This resort has many restaurarnts on property offering an array of dining experiences.
The ones we sampled were very good. If you are a "nature enthusiast", bring a camera
with a long lens.......We had Howler monkeys outside our hotel room in the mango
trees! And Coatis (they look like raccoons) eating fallen mangos outside our door step!
What an experience! We had fun at this resort......visiting in May. Since this is an
all inclusive resort, we ordered room service almost every day......for breakfast. The
Mitra Restaurant had a good buffet breakfast.
There are many "exotic birds" on the resort. I found that an early morning walk around
the resort would be the most productive time for a "photo op".
My wife and enjoy enjoyed this resort very much. The staff were very friendly & all of the
spoke good English. Pura Vida !
