This is an interesting place to understand history of Japan bank. You are allowed to take photo without flashlights. There is no entrance fee.

We walked from our hotel to the museum and discovered that the entrance was free!!! How lovely. There is a website in English to get more information on the opening hours and get a little history on how it worked in the 1920's and 1930's....More

Entrance is FOC, there are some English elaboration, but not much. The most interest me is the thick safe door, amazingly thick around 1 feet.

Highlight of our Japan trip. Beautiful evening ride along the canal and around Otaru. The trip was enhanced by the skill, knowledge and photography skills of our runner Shota. A truly magical experience in a winter wonderland. Arigato Shota ☺️☃️☺️

For those who loves history, this is another historic place to enrich your knowledge. Otherwise, it is just another museum & you should skip this place. Or just drop for a short visit since you are here.

My kids had fun with the interactive displays. There was a chunk of 10 million yen bank notes for you to lift. There was a bank vault. Like most museums in Japan, the displays are geared towards Japanese public and most descriptions were in Japanese....More
