This is a pretty good venue for seafood but it is mostly take home. If you have a homestay or live in Hakodate and love seafood this is worth a stop to get some delicious items. We saw huge crab legs (wife's mitten for scale) when we went and a good variety of fish. They also sell some preserved items here as well as other grocery items.
The seafood market is part of the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse area and when we visited in December they had a big Christmas/Winter market with lots of lights, decorations and food stalls. This is about an 18 minute walk away from the Hakodate Station and we saw the area while coming back from the ropeway and thought it was worth the stop. We spent 10 minutes in the market and about 2 hours in the area walking in and around the many buildings. Make sure if you have good boots if you visit in the winter because the sidewalks outside can be snowy and slushy.
